Has a replacement for JRChat been made? If not might I suggest making one on Chatango? These fly-by-night chat room providers generally don't hang around long or get overrun by spam and general badness. While a nice idea it's also not likely to represent a sufficient long-lasting replacement if that's what you're looking for. Unfortunately JRChat was proprietary and no one has a copy of the server code that I know of, making the possibility of an *actual* replacement that could be accessed with GreenReaper's JRNet client very difficult. So I don't really have a better alternative for you other than maybe to suggest setting up an IRC channel somewhere and learning how to moderate it and provide web access to it. Hmm, I understand what you're saying muffin but this chatango one seems different, plus it has a good moderator system all ready in place. Like I can make people into mods, you don't get random people popping into the chats, and if a mod isn't around it has an efective flag system that will temporarily ban people if enough people flag them. Life is good Gryph! How are you? because random people popping into the chat is a bad thing? If you can get people to use it I'm all for it, I just wouldn't touch the thing. I'm old and grumpy and partial to tried-and-true things, I guess. |
