baby born from hatchery norns as adult

something very odd happened that i have never seen (or at least noticed, since i often tab out when doing this) - i was doing a wolfling run and a norn born 3 generations into the run had an egg that hatched an adult. after less than a minute the adult became elderly. is this a random mutation? a bug? all of the original norns were born from hatchery eggs and none of them had any genes tampered with.

Usually, this sort of thing is a mutation. Without looking into it (I have no idea how C1 works), what likely happened is that the Norn's initial concentration of Life was reduced to right before the Old threshold. If that is the case, the Old and Senile stages should last the normal length. If they are an unusual length or she doesn't enter the senile stage, that suggests a more extensive mutation.
There is a way to rule out the slight chance of a bug. If there's a COB or agent that can clone C1 Creatures, use it. If the clone is normal, it's a bug.

very interesting! i can't say i've ever seen this happen in C1 and i've played it on and off since the 90s! so amazing how their digital life works
