Apologies if I come off as a bit strong, but I've been trying to figure out how to kill off the pear plants in C2toDS for days now... They grow EVERYWHERE,and take over EVERYTHING! I've had a immersion breaking desert full of pears, and that was after converting its room type to salt water! I dont mind if its where its supposed to be in that ettin swamp on the bottom level, or the pier under the tree for the ants, but this weed just get all over the place, and I'm really not fond of them... My main problem is it looks like theres a bit of coding that automatically makes them reseed in certain places if there is none there, but it tends to go a bit haywire and makes sure they're everywhere instead, particularly if I mess with it... I wouldnt mind tomato plants doing this for the creatures, they're small and cheerful anyway. But I have actually had all the other plants die off at some point to where the only plant in the world was the pear, which happily took over everything elses place... Why is it only pears that do this?

Anyway, enough complaining, I know this is only an unfinished beta, but I'm wondering if anyone has any idea on how to deal with these pests... At the moment I've just frozen the most annoying ones in game with caos coding, but I really want a better solution... Does this strange auto-spawning pear plant happen to everyone? Or is it a bug that only affects me? (I have had a problem with plant parts getting stuck behind the game icon panel, I dont know if thats related but it usually does pick on pear fruit... If anyone knows how to sort that out or if its related that'd be a great help!) If it is in the coding for some reason would anyone be willing to help me out with finding and changing the commands that control this plant? I dont care if I wipe it out, I have another version of the pear plant that easily takes its place without having the annoying respawning problem. I only know a tiny bit about the commands from the wiki, but I swear if I dont sort these pears out I'm going to end up tearing the metarooms coding apart myself, and I really dont want to do that, especially if it is just a random bug... :'( I'm terrible with coding...

Should leave the seed launcher though, in case you decide to try your hand with them again. Pears are the trickier of the plants. Their sprites are tall and they clip into all kinds of areas they shouldn't be going. It helps them spread. They also produce a lot of seeds compared to the other plants and their seeds go dormant until there is room enough for them once more. This has the side effect of making them re-seed themselves even after they appear to have gone extinct.

I've heard of the deathcap mushrooms being prolific, but not the pear plants. I think the auto-spawning is meant to be a feature, not a bug.

Oh thank goodness I think that worked! Thanks for the super fast replies at this time, it seems so simple too... I think you're right, the seeds were just getting into weird places... Also, arent you one of the guys that made it? [nsurprised] I'm honoured you gave me a reply! Despite the pears messing around I love the metaroom and I'm always amazed by it and how much work must have gone into it. [nsunglasses] Thats the kind of determination and coding I could only dream of lol. Thanks for the help! And the metaroom! I'll keep an eye on the deathcaps too then Malkin, though I like the mushrooms I'm guessing they still arent good for norns. [nlaugh]

The pears in the Super Food Vendor can be grown, if you're looking for an alternative. I haven't used that agent in a while, so I can't remember if they're any less prolific than the C2toDS ones, but from memory they weren't a problem - only the Triffids were.
