I've been using the caos file found elsewhere in an attempt to prevent seasonal gender bias, but it hasn't been working at all. I still end up with like 50 female norns and no males to help carry the lineage. It's really frustrating with my wolfing runs since I have Population Control set to prevent norns from having more than 4 children each. This wouldn't be so bad if there was an agent like the one in C2 that kills the creature and spawns a clone in the opposite gender, but I haven't seen one. |

Did you make a new world after installing it? Existing world have to be "patched" by hand via CAOS console after adding new cosfiles. I'd be careful in this particular case, though. One of the creatures-related files has the tendency to delete all creatures when treated this way. Not sure if it was the breeding script. Lets play plants! Photosynthesis... Photosynthesis... What kind of Docking station installation do you have? Are you using Creatures Exodus and are you using a GOG copy? |

Just checked it. There's no bootstrap folder there, nor is there one in My Documents... |

Some rapidfire questions here: Did you install the cosfile in 010 Docking station (in the bootstrap)? Did you specifically check for the Creatures folder in My Documents? How much have you tested the new world? Do you have multiple folders of Docking Station around? (I have one on my backup, for example.) Did you check the root directory of your main drive for the folder "GOG Games"? |

Yes, I did. I frequently enter the Creatures folder in My Documents to move out exported Norns to other places for easier sorting. There is no bootstrap folder at all there.
It's not just one world--it's all of the ones I've played. They all have the same issue of all the Norns being conceived at relatively the same time being one gender. I am up to Generation 8 in this particular one, and I'm still seeing the pattern. Do you have multiple folders of Docking Station around? (I have one on my backup, for example.) Two things come to mind: 1, I do have docking station in Microsoft Virtual PC, although it is not currently running. 2: When I use an official Norn breed .exe, it prompts me for which games I want to install to. It then gives me 2 sets of listings for both games, with one being "(XP Edition)" or something similar, and the other not having anything else after it. Just tested it out and checked the file location the installer was going to. Both were the Program Files/GOG.com folder, so I don't know what's up with THAT... Did you check the root directory of your main drive for the folder "GOG Games"? That's where my main directory is, so yes. That's where I placed the file. EDIT: I believe I fixed it. What I did was I went into the Docking Station folder in My Documents and created a Bootstrap/010 Docking Station folder, and placed the z_no_seasonal_gender_bias file there. Seems to have worked. |
