Changing a norns pigment

Hi.

I wanted a body part and a tail part to be green instead of their standard color, but when I try to change the pigment inside their genome the entire creatures turns to that color, and I only want the body and tail. So how would I go about doing that?

Choose different sprites or it won't work. As far as I know there is absolutely no way to make coloring body-part-specific. Creatures like the Kunterbunt breeds go about it by making actual sprite sheets which are randomly recolored, not over genetics.

Strange Amonra has lots of different color version from already made creatures and they are by body part o.O
I doubt she re-did the sprites on the mall breeds, plus the officially, plus player made creatures.

They presumably use a lot of pigment shift and rotation. Those still affect all sprites equally, but their results depend on the colors of the base sprites used. With the same shift and rotation, a pale blue base sprite will have fairly different results than a purple base sprite.
In that case you have to find a balance of base colors and shift/rotation values that actually makes everything match.

She probably used pigment bleed/swap genes which turns the colour palette.

This should help a bit, experiment on this agent, then go into the genome and find the 'Pigment Bleed' genes and set the sliders accordingly.

It's hard to do controllably, just to warn you. Again it depends on the base color of the body parts. So my Dragons often have wings and arms that are different from the body because they use Gargoyle Norn arms/wings and the rest of their sprites are Draconian Norn. But I can't tweak them to have, say, red arm/wings and a pink body. That combination just isn't possible as far as I've found, no matter how I mess with rotation, swap, and pigments. I can make red body with pink arm/wings, but not the reverse. The Draconian base art is green, so fundamentally, every change starts from green, meaning I can only twist it so far. And I can't give them, say, a blue tail, because the tail sprite is still Draconian. All the Draconian parts will have the same color. Sad to say, if you see fan-made breeds with body parts of different colors, it's either because of the phenomenon I and others are describing, or they really did go in and edit the actual sprites to customize them. There's just no other way to do it.
