Remember when gameware hosted some auctions for the dioramas used for the Creatures 1 background a few years back?
Which people won? Are they in the creatures community? Are there any new pictures of them?
I feel we need to talk about this, It happened and then the subject was dropped a bit too quickly.

Wait those were real life dioramas, not pixel art? .-.

I thought they were auctioned by Steve Grand himself? I also remember someone saying that one of them ended up in an actual museum, while the others ended up in the hands of some people in the community. |

Don has one, and Spoony has one. |

I do think I remember that Don also said she would show some more pictures once she got hers, but afterwards nothing much happend about that topic,so I can agree the subject surely dropped quickly. All you can see of her part is this (scroll down - also here is a direct link to the image).
I was quite interested seeing more of it too, I think the C1 world models look impressive. |

I've always been quite fascinated by how they opted for digital photography of a three dimensional model to create the backgrounds in Creatures. It made for amazing visuals that are still highly enjoyable
Is there any other game that has used something similar? |

The closest I could find are videogames that use stop motion.
