Does anyone have any good programs for making agents, metarooms, and creatures. I've been on hiatus from Creatures because of my computer breaking, systems not working, and such. Well, for an 18th birthday present to myself I bought Creatures Exodus and decided to get back into what I love. Plus it wouldn't hurt to get into the creating side of the game. If you all could help, maybe with some tips, programs, or wisdom. I'd be super grateful!

This resource should come in handy.
Caos tool is used for making cos files, which can be compiled into agents, while map editor will allow you to draw out the rooms of a metaroom to export into a cos file, sprite builder will let you make bitmaps into sprites and Pray builder lets you compile agents.
As for tools for making sprites, I'd personally recommend Gimp or Photoshop, aswell as any other favourite image editing software you have. You could also pick up a 3D program such as Blender, 3DSmax or Maya but they can take a long time to learn how to use and the learning process can be difficult due to the learning curve. |

If you have java on your PC installed, you might want to consider ditching sprite- and PRAY builder in favor of Jagent. It is a fairly robust alternative with a few extra bits and bobs included.
Monk for example (Jagent's version of PRAY builder) can not only create agents from PRAY files, it can also go the other way round. It can disassemble an existing agent, so you can dissect the code and the files it comes with.
Edos (Jagent's sprite builder) supports a much wider range of file formats to import sprites from. Sprite builder is pretty much limited to BMP files, while Edos can also import things like PNG or JPG.
Another advantage is that Edos supports actual transparency for invisible pixels, while in sprite builder it's simply the perfectly black pixels that are considered "invisible".

Sorry if this is thread hijacking but if the OP has a similar problem with Jagent this might be helpful for them too. I got Jagent but I am unable to use it because my computer doesn't seem to recognize the '.jar' filetype. It labels them as 'Jar executable files' but when I try to run them, nothing whatsoever happens, not even an error message. Do these exist as .exe somewhere? Am I missing some other piece of software?

Right click
File properties
Permissions
Allow execution or allow to be executed as a program or whatever
Apply & save
It is a security measurement on most OS to make sure only stuff you trust is executed. Also, make sure to execute the Edos and Monk jars respectively, NOT the Jagent core jar.

You should be able to just download it if you got it from GoG.com. I know you can choose to buy a hard copy in addition but I'm pretty sure you can still download it. Check your Account page.
