Sorry to post so much, but I keep running into problems I can't figure out how to fix just with Google or poking around here in the forum. x.x;
So, as I mentioned in my last post, I'm working on a project to make more fertile Norns (among various other modifications). I also wanted these guys to be very vividly colored, taking advantage of the Albian Gray base's ability to show the colors well. I made the first set blue, and now that the blue line is beginning to develop more I decided to make the reds. But now something bizarre is happening - no matter what I do, the alterations to the genome aren't "taking". I've tried closing and re-opening both programs and it makes no difference (and yes I triple checked to make sure I'm using the right genome with the new edits in place). I thought it was a color problem at first, but I tried changing body part assignments and discovered that change isn't taking effect either. I can't figure out for the life of me what's going wrong. Any ideas? x.x

Is your genome in the My Documents folder or the Program Files (x86) folder?

It was originally in the subfolder of My Documents created by Creatures, but I tried copying it to the folder the actual Creatures game runs from (which is not Program Files but a GOG.com folder - I don't think there's anything for C1 in PF but I'll check.) Moving the file didn't seem to help but I'll look into the PF and see if there's anything there, then edit with what I find.
EDIT: There's nothing there for the Creatures games themselves, but the Genetics Kit folders there. I'll try pasting it into the folder of the Genetics Kit itself where it has its default stuff, see if that helps. The weird thing is that what keeps being spawned are the blue edits, the most recent type I made before doing the red ones. I don't get why it's 'stuck' on those.
EDIT II: This is seriously the weirdest thing. I have no idea what went wrong. Everything was working fine before now. But I tried editing a whole new genome from scratch, working from dad4.gen I think, one of the defaults anyway. And I STILL got a blue! I can't figure it out, I really truly can't. If I upload one or two of these many fail-Norns, would any of you mind trying them and seeing if a.) they look red or blue when imported into your world, b.) if you get their DNA and then inject it with the Genetics Kit, if they look red or blue, and c.) whichever happens, helping me figure out what the heck is going on here? I've reinstalled both Creatures 1 and the Genetics Kit, deleted all the filed in the Genetics Kit folder before reinstalling it, fresh world files... I can't think of anything else to try.

Somewhere in one of the Program file folders there is a folder named "appdata." Windows Vista and newer likes to randomly hide copies of files in there and that sounds like your issue. If you type that folder name in the search function of windows explorer (or My Computer, or whatever the thing is called) and wait you'll find that folder easier. I don't know what happens if you delete the folder itself, but deleting the .gen files stashed there may fix your issue.
I'd further elaborate but I currently don't have the series reinstalled yet, I've been too busy squashing other important bugs.
