Creatures Albian Years Windows 10

Is it worth buying? I kinda used a pirated version to test windows 10 and encountered a black rectangle covering up a good portion of the screen for Creatures 2. I can't do the fix that involves lowering the window until you can see the min/max-window-x buttons as my laptops screen is too small to do this properly.

Sorry about the pirated version but GOG doesn't seem to have a demo I can use:( Yes I did use the pirated version to play for a brief while but I later uninstalled it (reinstalled for testing win 10 then reinstalling it again) because I felt kinda guilty for using it.

There was a bit of a long hiatus between playing versions as I foolishly thought it would be a good idea to wait for creatures 4...no wait Online to come out. That was a terrible idea.

There is a really long story involving me getting the original albian years cd off amazon and then learning it didn't work for my computer as it was too old:(

Is there any way right now, that if I get a legal copy of Albian Years off GOG that I can play a somewhat tolerable version of C2? I apologise for the long rant:P

I'm afraid Creatures 2 is essentially unplayable on Windows 10. Even if you can fix the black rectangle the game is still incredibly laggy.

You could always get a virtual machine going with an older copy of windows and attempt to play C2 on there, that is of course, if you have an older version of windows to use. I personally used my old XP disk and got it to boot up in VMware to play and test things. So there is another option than to run it directly on Windows 10. My computer is Windows 10 as well and the game works smoothly in a virtual machine. Virtual machines are a very useful tool in playing older programs on newer computers. [nsmile]

Regardless, good luck! :)

Like Nello, said, virtual machines are a very good alternative option to running C2. Before I got the GOG.com version I used one to play my version of Albian Years from Creatures Triple Pack. However you'll need a copy of another OS in order to use it with the virtual machine.

The GOG version of C2 used to work when I upgraded my laptop but was a bit laggy and I couldn't see the hand. However my laptop wasn't really compatible with W10 so I can't tell whether the issue was related to my drivers or to W10.
