What does everyone use to keep the norns out of the oceans? I tried using the selective forcefield, but that darn dust tornado always knocks them into the it. |

What about Amaikokonut's Mind Arrows? You could use the 'left' and 'right' directions to try and steer the Norns away from the oceans. There's Pobble too, should one accidentally fall in. |

Pobble confuses me a bit... I did download him and tested him out in the aquarium room on the ship because I intended to use him for the C2toDS but when I dropped a norn in with him he just ignored it?
The mind arrows look like something to try, though, thanks! |

Did Pobble ignore the Norn completely and just let it die? Maybe he only rescues them when they start to drown? Or maybe he only works with the Sea Monkey Marina... I don't know, I haven't tried it and don't have DS installed to test it out. |

It was a CFF norn and I took it out when it started looking scared (I didn't have the heart to keep him in there any longer and risk him just drowning). Pobble swam right past him.
I could have sworn the agent description said it worked with any water area but maybe I'm wrong.
At any rate, the mind arrows are looking good so far, thanks for suggesting them. |

I have not tried Pobble myself yet, but maybe you are a bit too impatient with it? It has to determine if a creature actually needs to be saved at all, as there is amphibious and sometimes even gilled creatures. Former don't need to be rescued, latter would actually die if it did so.
I reckon that it either only executes it's script every couple seconds or so, to save on complicated checks and evaluations and (as a result) precious PC power and/or that it only intervenes when things actually get pretty critical. As far as I know, creatures can survive under water for a minute or two before dying.
Also, did it specify how it saves creatures? Did it say it'd literally take em out? Maybe it actually "saves" them by simply providing them with oxygen, so they don't drown while figuring a way out of the water or waiting for you to rescue 'em.
That might be why it looked scared, too. It noticed it was under water, but not that it isn't in danger.

CFFs can't tell when they are underwater, only when they are drowning. I haven't tryed that agent so I don't know how it works, but I could add to the suggestion list.
You could try the Potted Stoperplant to keep them out.
There is also the Koi Toy which can prevent them from drowing if they do fall in (they don't even get a chance to freak out).

It didn't specify exactly how Pobble saves them, unfortunately. I didn't think of the possibility that it provides them with oxygen rather than popping them back up to land.
Will the potted plant stay still in the wind tornado thing that goes through the C2 world?
The Koi Toy looks pretty great too.
Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. |
