I just lost five C1 norns, including my three favorites, to some sort of respiratory infection -- they started coughing one by one, and then they started dropping like flies no matter what I tried to do to save them. Unfortunately, the six norns that are left are (in my honest estimation) none too bright and nothing to write home about and only two of them are female.
Please bear with me...I just need to vent. I'm learning that C1 norns can be even more annoying and frustrating than C2 norns, and that's REALLY saying something! One of the things which irritates me the most is when a C1 norn gets it into its head that another norn's name is actually a word for something (why, I can't really understand) and then other norns start doing the same. |

The mis-naming something usually occurs when the norn overhears you calling another norn to you. There are parts of the map where norns on one elevation level can hear you even on another level. They might also hear you from just off-screen where you didn't realise they were close.
If there's another mechanism for this to happen I'm not aware of it, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn of it! |

Some very big game tips that I can give about Creatures 1 are:
• Teach your norns the words "Look" and "Come", they are without a doubt some of the most useful verbs in the game.
• Find an oppertunity where one of your norns is looking at the hand. Teach the norn the word "Hand" by saying "Hand" when they look at it, and make sure they are still looking at it before repeating with ctrl + S
• Now you can very easily get norns to follow you by saying "Come hand" and you can teach them any noun by simply instructing them to look (Look makes norns look at the object nearest to the hand)
• Use the ball to trick norns into lifts, Norns will pay attention and walk after bouncing balls when they are dropped. It's by far one of the most effective ways to split your norns up. There are quite a few areas where you can have your norns live, such as the beehives, the temple, the garden and the learning computer. There are likely even more safe places you can spread your norns out to.
• Wait for the female to be on her downward estrogen cycle, as in her estrogen in the breeders kit is gradually decreasing. When she is, you should breed her with one of your other norns.
• As for mis-naming, try to get your norn to look at the misnamed norn and teach them a different word for it, like "norn". If the norn is calling itself a noun, just re-register them in the owners kit.
• Download and inject the cobs C1 Updated Carrot and C1 Updated Lemons made by Jessica, they will make norns have an easier time eating in the garden as they won't try to eat inedible carrot seedlings or get confused by the pain that lemons give when eaten, so they are more likely to eat when they are hungry.
• If the grendel is still a problem, keep a grendel scarer handy. Otherwise if he went to the island then you don't really need to worry about him...
• Don't forget to teach your norns all verbs if you can. Run is also very useful for moving your norns by getting them to run hand.
• Honey isn't very nutritious but it decreases hunger nicely. Try feeding norns the updated carrots and lemons instead.
• Try to use tea instead of herbs to reduce exhaustion. Unless the norn is in the temple and has access to the morning glory plant.
• Ration the cheese, you'll need it...
I hope these help! |
