Hello,
I was loosely involved with the CC about ten years ago - I did a release of the gay norns with Jennie and a few other minor bits and bobs. It's lovely to see how the CC has developed, and that it's still growing. The CFE norns were about the last *big* release I saw, and the CFF norns seem to be an exciting development.
So anyway...
I'm just getting back into C2 and I have a question... the Nova Subterra and (Alkamai) Canny norns are both little cleverclogs compared to the original stock. Has anyone really looked into which is the *most* intelligent? Does anyone have any preferences?
I get the impression that breeding them with other kinds results braincrambled little darlings with stars above their heads, which isn't optimal, obviously. |

Not off the top of my head, but my long-held opinion is that the latest Canny variants are superior to Nova Subterra. I always recommend that people get JayD's custom Canny genome, as he was able to solve the wallbonking issue at long last.
Wish I could be more specific, but it's been quite a while since I compared the two. They're both decent, but yeah, I wouldn't try to crossbreed them. I believe Novas and Cannies both have additional brain lobes, and babies are unlikely to inherit a viable combination. |

Somebody has tried to combine cannies and nova subterras, personally I don't notice much difference between any of them behavior-wise. :B

Personally I prefer Canny Norns; Nova Subterras often have breeding problems. |

I prefer the albian years first party norns. As far as I can tell the OHSS is nonexistant to them. |

Yeah, the stock norns in the gog version is the 56 genome, that was the last genome update from cyberlife/creature labs... OHSS was never really a thing though. The problem was that norn's weren't good sleepers, and that messed upp their learning. It's easily fixed by telling them to look at the hand, then you picking up an object so the hand disappears. It forces them to look at themselves, which is the same as closing their eyes, and they usually go to sleep after a few attempts, unless they have other higher drives. |

I distinctly remember having an wolfling run with Nova Subterras and them all dying out after leaving them unattended for 2 hours or so, whereas the Canny Norns lasted a bit longer |
