Further experimentation has revealed that this tends to happen more often when I'm spamming *unrelated* ctrl-[key] commands, but I can't pin it down to any specific troublemaker-- I'm starting to wonder if it's just some bug in the VM's handling of keyboard input itself.
This is very strange. I might just cave and install AutoHotKey at this rate, if it even supports XP... just wish I knew what was causing the problem in the first place.
