I'm aware the GOG version of Creatures Exodus splits things up between the program directory and mydocs, like a 'modern' game would, but I have always been absolutely -baffled- as to the order, or what folders take priority. Is there a reference up for this, or if not, can anyone share insight?
This has been bugging me for ages... to the point I've been using the web copy of DS in favor of my purchased GOG copy. Can't make a docked world with it without hunting down a nocd though, which seems extremely backwards, so it's time to ask.
(I'm also very confused on what the Creatures Remastered mydocs patch does, exactly, in light of this.) |

The game will use the directory you installed it to, but will always unpack agents into the My Documents folder. Because of this you should always install Exodus into your My Documents folder. |

That is so weird. |

that IS weird. what does the mydocs patch in the remastered patch do though? because that behavior sounds pretty gamebreaking... |

sorry for the double post here, but I really just want my game to function without touching mydocs at all-- is that what the 'mydocs issue' is supposed to be? Nothing I can find actually explains what that toggle in the patch does, and if it's supposed to be doing something, as far as I can tell, it ... isn't, on my system. |

Have you tried contacting Don? The patch was developed during the time of the Gameware Forums, so most of the explanations of its purpose were there.

No, but I can send a PM. I'll see what happens. |
