CTD with Tiger grendels

I'm having problems with C3/DS Tiger grendels, whenever one ages to adult, the game crashes.

Trying this with a virgin installation of DS, the only other addition is "Offline Option" as a login disabler, and the mall breeds installed to the C3 folder.

I'm using "targ norn ages", the other breeds have no similar problem

(Would be nice if someone tested them to see if it's just me or not.)

I certainly won't be abe to help with the crashes but I can see if it runs on my end... I've got the GOG edition of Exodus running on win7.

No idea... Maybe the sprite files are broken and it tries to access an invalid sprite that *should* be valid or something? Does it happen on both genders or just one?
Do you think you could make a batch of 10 gengineered test creatures? 5 male, 5 female, each just with ONE body part of the grendels, all other body parts something failsafe like Bruin or ChiChi? Then test them one by one.

Thanks DragonSparkle, at least i know it's not something I messed up.

@Papriko: it happens with both genders, that's the odd thing. I might try aging splices to adulthood and seeing if something doesn't crash.

Poor things, I didn't even want to play with the tiger grendels - I just wanted to temporarily exploit them to test my new breed's sprites, without having to overwrite normal grendels. (Or renaming the whole set of ATT files to a fresh slot).

I remember this being a problem with the Bulbous Grendels. Norngirl made a patch to fix it, but I'm not exactly sure what she did.

funnily enough, although I've never encountered the problem myself, I know that user ChameleonSushi on here can't use tiger grendels for the same reason! When they age up and (if I remember correctly) on occasion when they hatch(?) her game would seize up.

I really don't know why some people are fine and some people their game crashes, but there's definitely something buggy going on. c':

The issue from what I recall, essentially boils down to the sprites. What she did was take the sprites, align them with those of the regular grendel, and copied over the Bulbous' sprites. She made her own custom changes to the sprites from there if memory serves along with some .att fixing due to the changed dimensions but there you have it. It's something that baffles me to this very day how some unknown error inside the sprites can cause the DS engine to have a complete fit.

Yes, a surprising lot of errors, most pretty nasty, can be caused by a simple faulty sprite. Make one frame 64*64 pixels, the other 64*63, BANG, a physics problem occurs and the game dies.
