Now that another year has passed, I ask again: Is there going to be a PC version?
Best case senario? Release it on steam with workshop integration so we can make our own breeds and devices.
I would love to see the other 4 games come with it with steam workshop as well.
At the very least, put it on GoG. I have an Ipad 2, but I don't want the game for tablet honestly.

I guess a steam version could work for CO.
I doubt that it works with the older games very well, though. Agents maybe, but how about other add-ons, such as cosfile fixes? Those do not just add files, but actually overwrites old ones, which makes it questionable if it works with the way steam usually handles workshop DLC...

Well, perhaps not. I am sure some could be added. Then the fans could mod as normally. Just like we do now. I dunno.
Just trying to get excited about this. It has been on my radar since 2013 I think. I reacted like OMG! Two years later it's ho hum.

That's alright. A lot of us have been looking forward to the new game a lot longer and, frankly, I get less and less impressed with the new game the more I hear about it. Just my opinion, though.

Yeah. I hear ya. It's like Guild Wars 2. When they announced heart of thorns, I was excited. They still have not given us a date yet for it, and they refuse to talk about the feature I want to hear about.
I want to be excited about the expansion, just like creatures online. I can't bring myself to get excited about it. A Steam release would make me more excited. Learning more about the PC version as well.
Ugh. That is why I am a game blogger. Being a dev like I wanted to 8 years ago would be a pain now. everyone demands too much of every company.

I was under the impression "Creatures Online" was going to be a browser-based thing, which would mean of course there's a PC version.
But in my mind, this... thing doesn't exist. It's a cookie-clicking, gem-buying, cash-shop, timer-watching abomination, that caters entirely towards the stay-at-home single mom "Candy Crush" addict demographic. It's being made by a developer that has no idea how to actually code ALife. They have no technical ability to expand upon the code they've lifted wholesale from the previous titles. They just dumped it into their browser-game framework, locked half the features away with the typical pay-to-play mechanics, and are pretending it's a new game. And their redesigned Norns are ugly as sin.
But like I said, it doesn't exist.
Grandroids is the new Creatures game I'm excited for. He's making slow but steady progress. He's at a point now where the animal can learn to walk (entirely learnt from scratch, and physics-based), perceives with its eyes, and can learn the layout of its environment through exploration. All with an artificial brain made up of digital neurons. |

I don't think GimmeCat is being a butt about it. They're just voicing their opinion and there's really nothing wrong with that. Actually, I kind of agree. I've about given up on Creatures Online myself and am more excited about Grandroids, too.

I'm still pretty excited about the game. I don't think of games like this as pay-to-play,mostly just pay-to-do-things-faster. |

I'm just still sore about it, is all. It's disappointing when you hear about a beloved series finally getting a sequel, and then find out it's a bastardisation rather than a true following from the same creators. I feel exactly the same way about Nosgoth being the game nobody asked for when we wanted a proper ending to the Legend of Kain games.
Sadly, it all comes down to money. Publishers are only interested in marketable games. And whilst I know that makes sense from a business perspective, it doesn't stop being disappointing from a fan perspective. |

IMO I don't see Creatures Online as a total disaster but looking over all the new announcements and developments I've lost a lot of heart in it. I mostly agree with GimmeCat in that I'm very worried it'll just turn out to be a pay-to-win microtransaction garishly-colored mess, but honestly? I'm still probably going to have fun with it. There are a couple unveiled locations that I do like and while I don't think it'll approach looking as good or playing as well as the other games I'm still glad its going to come out... it's just far from what I'd want at this point. The thing I'm most unenthusiastic about is the relative lack of player freedom as compared to the other games. One of the things I love most about C3 is how it's so easy to mess with and modify absolutely everything and I doubt that will be a possibility this time around.

No doubt I'll play it (the free part, anyway) too. I'm not against this type of game existing. I've played my fair share of them, they have their place just like any other type of game. A true Creatures sequel would've been preferable, is all. |

Well I believe they did say PC. I suppose they were not specific. However it was supposed to be part of a PC special collection.
They also said they would include the previous versions as well. So if the PC version being the free to play version being a browser based flash game, I will pass. If it has nothing special but the base game included, I will pass. If I have to rebuy all the games with everything listed above included, I will pass.
I will play the tablet version, IF it works on my IPad 2.
I am kind of into other games right now. I love Skyforge, and I am enjoying the game called Ark: Survival Evolved. I know nothing of Steve Grands project. I have not backed it, but can anyone explain it to me? I could not make heads or tails of it.

I think that they mentioned that by buying a version, you would either get some credits or unlock everything or something...or perhaps that was a cheese dream.

I think it was credits, and possibly some extra content. I also remember something about them bundling the other games with it, although they could have ended up dropping that plan. |
