Hi all, I'm in need of a bit of help.
I've recently released some C2 Cobs (e.g. Pump Fix, Say Need No More) and I've been getting reports from several people that it is crashing their games. I can't fathom why this is happening!
I'm using the GoG version of the game, and I'm compiling using BobCob 1.44. The Cobs work perfectly fine in my own game, and I think (though I can't be sure) that other people have used the Cobs just fine too.
But two people have now told me that Say Need No More, which is nothing more than a replacement script (in fact, it's pretty much an empty script that doesn't even do anything, which is the point of it), is crashing their game just by being in their Objects folder. How can that be?
And I've also heard other strange things, like somebody injected the Pump Fix and found that it kept injecting itself over and over endlessly! (and yes, the script definitely ends with an 'endm')
I use my Cobs in my own game, and they don't give me any script errors. They work exactly as expected.
Could the issue lie with BobCob somehow? The program has worked mostly fine, but I do know that its 'embed files' feature doesn't work for me. I once distributed a Cob with an embedded sprite, but received a comment saying the game couldn't find the sprite, and so I had to package it seperately inside the zip.
Specs:
Windows 7 x64
'The Albian Years' C2 (GoG version)
BobCob 1.44
I am hoping someone recognizes these issues and can point me towards a solution. Thank you! |

I've never had any such issues with BoBCoB and I've never heard of anyone else who has. That doesn't rule it out however. Perhaps you could try compiling the COB with a different program and seeing what happens. Do any of the others work with Windows 7? |

I don't know. People tend not to comment unless something is broken. :/
It could just be a few isolated cases, but I would like to be able to tell them something helpful. But being new to Cobbing, I don't know what to suggest. |

This seems very odd, as I deleted all of the mentioned COBs, and replaced the pump.s16 with the original, and worlds are still crashing when I load them. |

In that case, if you didn't manage to inject any of the cobs, and the game is still crashing (have you tried creating a new world?) then these Cobs can't be what's causing the crashing. That's a relief for me, but... |
