| Getting rid of the C1 grendel? | |

So, ever since I installed the C1toDS metaroom, the grendel egg layer will randomly lay either a C1 grendel or a C3 one.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like the C3 ones are more aggressive and stronger and I'd really rather use them to test my norns.
How do I remove just the C1 grendels? I've gone into my documents and program files and removed the genes from all the genetics folders but they're still showing up in the norn meso list? |

I think I had the same problem before... Hm. I remember that I didn't like using the C1 breeds because they looked funky when mixed, and my egglayer also layed C1 grendels, and when they grew up, they looked exploded.
I remember I just uninstalled and reinstalled C1toDS, since I found out there was an option in the installer for whether you wanted the breeds installed or not. The only problem is you have to remove the egg agents manually.
It's the only solution I've got. Anyone else...?
(Btw, maybe you could see if you could download the other breeds online so you could still have them. I'm pretty sure you can)
EDIT: Anyone know where that breed uninstalled is? The site went down, so I don't think you can access it anyone unless it's hosted elsewhere.

If you remove the C1 Grendel breed, the egg layer will still be there... it will just lay C3 Grendels since they will be the only Grendel still in the game.
You should be able to just click on the C1toDS Grendel egg mother and it will be deactivated. You'll be able to tell the difference because the color gets darker. Once it's deactivated it will not lay any more eggs.

Thank you, I totally forgot to remove the egg agents. I'm having decidedly less luck with the C3 grendels, they're definitely much more aggressive.
It wasn't the C1 egg layer that was laying them it was the C3 one. |

Banshee grendels seem to be REALLY resistant to wounding from hits, too, even my hardmen are having a hard time with them. And yeah c1 grendel's original genome was basically a norn genome, there was just some scripting in the game that turned any good interaction from a grendel into a hit. Not sure about the C1toDS ones though.

I think the C1toDS ones just use a Jungle Grendel genome with the sprites switched around. |

Ah well, the base Jungle Grendels are a lot weaker than the Banshee grendels at least for sure... Banshees take much more punishment to kill. My hardmen are pretty good at it though, they are some really brutal grendel-hunters (I had one make it from the norn meso to the jungle AND kill a grendel by the time it was 10 minutes old...)
Who knew fixing their emotional incapacitation issues would turn them into such total monsters.

I've really buckled down and selected only the norns who will relentlessly attempt to hit the grendel. Alone, it's more likely that the grendel will win (though a few norns have been quick enough to kill him) but if he wanders into a group he's pretty much done.
I also tried to select norns that seemed to be able to take a lot of punishment.
But really I am definitely finding the C3 jungle grendel more aggressive and stronger than the C1toDS grendel. |

Try my new Hardman Norns Bonnie & Clyde, breed them in... These guys are tough and insane and they beat the crap out of Grendels with no fear... They beat them til they are tired, lay down right in front of them and go to sleep not giving a crap, while the poor Grendel reels and cowers from the horrific beating, and then when they wake up, they go right after it again... I found myself feeling SORRY for even the extra-tough and mean basic Banshee Grendels... The Norns would just group up and beat it into a corner and keep hitting... The C3DS Jungle Grendels were just sad... not even close to a match... they all died in seconds.

Hmm. Are they really angry, though? I'm trying to breed norns who are generally pretty happy and easy going and don't necessarily go hunting for grendels, but will attack a grendel on sight regardless.
The norns I have right now fit that, I just need them to be a little more persistent and quick to strike. Because smooching the grendel first and telling it that you like it really doesn't give you much of an edge. |
