I'm breeding CFFs into my crew, but I have no way of telling whether or not the offspring have their genetics. Is there a way to tell?

The genetics kit and brain vat thing don't work for me for some reason.

Well... if you can use the xray, you will see they have an extra organ.

Otherwise, you will have to yell at them and scare them a bit for the easiest check... look at their drives with the hoverdoc or whatever you like to use, have the hand say 'no' near them and hold ctrl-s so you keep repeating it over and over... if you see their fear increasing, they have the CFF genetics, because they respond to yes and no by the hand the same way they would a tickle or slap (except 'no' has no pain or wounding, just the punishment and fear).

The effect shouldn't feel too bad for them, just spook them a little, although for learning sake preferably do it when punishing them :) , but even if not, punishment is also given to them by the disappointment stim in pretty large amounts and they can get this stim a lot of times in a row also, just in their normal course of trying random stuff.

The Genetics Kit and Brain in a Vat might not know where to find Exodus. I hate to muck with your settings like this, but have you tried the Creatures Remastered Patch?

Aside from looking at the genes, you can always look at their behaviour for indications.

I have used the Creatures Remastered Patch, unfortunately I still can't seem to get either of those programs to work.

I do have the X-Ray agent and I have noticed the organ 22 on some offspring, I just wasn't sure if that meant they'd inherited the full set of genes or not.

But I could also test with the 'no'.

Yeah if they have the organ they will have all of the new genes, (same as the yes/no stimulus reaction)... As for the altered genes (mostly the talking and interaction behavioral stuff, some stress fixes, some reproductive tweaks, and part of their drowning reaction), those could still be from either parent.

New genes cover:
New instincts regarding parents and nature
yes/no reactions
hungerly drive overwhelmsion
fullness edits
darkness reaction (sleepiness)
alcohol reactions (in fred&ethyl)
drowning reaction
lactate fix/pyruvate cycle

Also, I wouldn't mix any CFF versions together with any other CFF types or versions... Since they are all test versions and the genome is still majorly changing with each release, their genes may not line up properly between each other and you can get some defects.

I bred in the previous CFF type, but it was quite a while back and I'm not sure how much of those genes are in there among them anymore. I've been keeping an eye on them via X-Ray and HoverDoc and culling anyone with obvious defects. So far that's been working for me.

I think for most version crosses the worst you would get is a double or malformed hungerly drive overwhelmsion organ and/or some of the new weak instincts missing.
