Has anyone had the grendel egg layer lay a female grendel and the ettin egg layer lay a male ettin? Because I've seen one female grendel and two male ettins now.
I thought the grendels were male only and the ettins female only? |

I don't know the reason for it exactly, but I believe that if you have a lot of breeds and cobs/agents installed, the grendel and ettin egg layers can potentially get harmlessly glitchy.
I've seen a friend's ettin layer make a male ettin with neon coloured norn sprites before all on it's own for instance! cx
If you have absolutely nothing added to the game though I have no idea.. Usually though the layers produce two male grendels and two female ettins and passively replace them if they die.

Usually they produce exclusively 1 gender and not the other. The second gender usually is achieved by splicing and being lucky.
They easily can be fixed, though. Just change 1 number per egglayer or so. Just make them set the egg's ov00 (or ov01? not sure) to 0 (randomly choose upon hatching) instead of 1 (male) or 2 (female).
Also, the thing Jesseth mentioned is due to the way the egglayers work. They just randomly pick ANY genome starting with e or g. When you have something like, IDK, emerald norns installed, you have a chance they get picked.
Also, this easily can be fixed too. Just find e* and g* and replace em with ettn* and gren*.

It's ov01
On an individual basis, you can also mouse-hover over an egg and use the cheat "targ hots setv ov01 2" to make it female, or "targ hots setv ov01 1" to make it male.

I have a lot of agents installed so maybe it's glitching because it's doing it all on it's own. I was so confused when I was scrolling along and came across a male ettin the first time. |
