Breeding Project

So, let me contribute with something other than questions.

I started a breeding project shortly after I got my hands on Exodus, the goal being what most strive for (hardy, self sufficient norns.)

We're on generation 256 - 258 right now.

I didn't really go with Wolfling run so much as I guess what would be called a Feral run? Basically, the norns have all the food and toys they could possibly want or need and everyone knows their words, they just need to be smart enough to take care of themselves.

Once in a while I'll take a norn aside and attempt to re-educate it if it's struggling, but not everyone has had that luxury considering I often run the game overnight. And if they still don't get it after that, it's tough cookies.

I allow one grendel and one ettin free to roam, bacteria is gone because ATP decoupler, all water is blocked off with the selective forcefield (which will not actually stop a norn if it's particularly determined to get past it) and the highest drops are also blocked off (again, if a norn really wants to take a fall, it's going to).

What I've done special with things is occasionally hatch a generation and (either gen 1 or from the main breeding line, I alternated) and either run them through a wolfling run or norn IQ test before introducing them back into the main world.

The gen 1s were just to get some fresh genes into the breeding pool near the beginning and I've stopped hatching them since. I also tossed in a few norns I downloaded a while back for the sake of neat color mutations.

I think I'm going to end this around gen 300 and then put them up for download.

Some interesting things have happened, the most recent being the 'ouch' gene as I call it. I just finished (hopefully) successfully breeding it out.

Norns were saying 'ouch' at random intervals (some more frequently than others) and recoiling as if they'd been hurt, but according to the HoverDoc their pain drive didn't budge. It was more curious and annoying that anything else.

Currently the norns seem to become hungry and bored much slower and have little to no problem taking care of these issues when they do arise.
