Mind-Controlled Norns

So, I hatched fourteen norns for my festive feral run, and let them loose in Artemia Sea. For the first few minutes of the run, they acted like normal norns: running around, playing, eating everything in site. Then, all of a sudden, they stopped. Every single norn dropped what it was doing entirely and started staring at me...

Of course, that's not a good state for a feral run to be in, so I tried snapping the little guys out of it. At first, I thought picking them up, followed (I couldn't lead them with the hand before doing that...) by leading them with the hand helped. It seemed to; the norns started moving again. But then, I noticed that they just kept walking right into the wall. Not even a Shift-Control-E rain of food or a smack would deter them from their wall-bonking. These poor creatures had no green arrows, and after being taught vocabulary with "enum 4 0 0 vocb next", they didn't respond to "what", though they would express themselves (the poor things were extremely hungry).

So, I exported them and set up a different world for them to inhabit, hoping the exportation process might snap them out of it; it didn't. I decided to hatch an apple norn to see if my game in general was borked. He seems fine so far, but I think I might need to keep an eye on him.

I don't think this odd behavior is a problem with the genome in general. These guys are based on the Colortrue Pearl Mermaids. When submissions were open, I was running a test world. I let the creatures I was finished with run around in the norn terrarium. They actually ate; in fact, I didn't have a single death in that world. The ones I hadn't force-aged lived to adulthood and there was quite a bit of breeding. The norns in the test world had an identical genome (besides cosmetic differences) to the norns in the Feral Run.

Does anyone know what might be causing this, or how to fix it? I could upload the contestants here for people to take a look at, if somebody offers.

No idea what the problem actually could be. To me they sound somewhat zombified (that's actually a thing).

I have no idea why they should be zombified at all, that's not one of the things that usually happens "on it's own"... Anyways, does it help when you run this command?

Very strange. I don't think I can make any suggestions in terms of a solution to the problem.

You don't have the new shortcuts thing installed do you? It's really easy to hit the "freeze Norn" buttons and then wonder why all your Norns are staring at you. It's why I uninstalled it.

You know what? That sounds like it might be it! I'll have to try that. That's kind of weird, since I sweat those shortcuts weren't working for me before...
