...or do some C2 norns have an ability to move their tails while others don't? I notice that a couple of the norns that have been born into my current C2 world (a strict wolfling run) move their tails about as if it's another outlet for and expression of their emotional state, in much the same way that cats use their tails. However, not all of them appear to do this (or at least not when I'm watching them) which leaves me with the impression that some of them are unable to use their tails.
Have other people noticed this? I'm inclined to think that this is probably just a fluke of their genetics, in much the same way that some C2 norns have gait disturbances -- or for that matter, why the occasional norn will either have no tail or two tails. It also makes me wonder if some breeds do this while others don't -- at least among the official breeds, norns which have Golden Desert ancestry seem to move their tails whereas I don't notice this much in the Emerald breed. |

You're not the only one to notice that. The Norns in Creatures 2 move their tails to express themselves. In Creatures 3, they don't seem to use their tails to convey their emotions. And you only seem to see it in certain breeds.
The Norns in Creatures 3 may be able to use their tails; it's just not built into their genetics. Either that or I've told a terrible white lie.

You're right that the C3 Norns don't "wag" their tails when they express, but I'm pretty sure this is just a matter of their pose genes being a bit different (which is probably easily changed). It's a shame they don't tap their little feet, either; C1 and C2 Norns had a lot of cute mannerisms that weren't given to C3 Norns. ![[nsad] [nsad]](/images/smilies/emot_sad.gif)

My guess is with C3/DS/CV they decided that the mechanism for 'expressive' faces were enough and kind of left it there. Still, that is interesting, I would think that kind of body language with poses like tapping the feet, twitching tail, etc.. for different moods, could probably be implemented easily enough in C3... I know most expressive genomes in c3/ds seem to do a kind of 'foot-tap' when expressing though, there is an 'i am expressing' pose that does it (also, I believe Hardman Norns have an extra 'angry' gait)
Still, something like this would be good to think about adding to my CFF genomes when I get back on them just to make them seem more lifelike and expressive. I kind of stopped since I've been quite busy with work lately and mostly absent from this site... My last attempt at adding to the genome involved adding in some Gizmo genetics, and didn't work out that well.

Someone made a tailwaving Norn breed for C3/DS:
