| Which improved C2 genome is best? | |

From what I've read, the various breeds which have been designed as improvements on the C2 genome -- Cannys, Geezers, and the Nova Subterras -- don't mix well with each other. In the interest of avoiding the problems that arise when they try to breed with each other, which do you think is the best for improving a population of norns? |

I've never had any breeding related problems with the cannys, though they can be hard to feed at times. Reached 21 natrual eggs in one ingame year. |

I'm going by the information at the Creatures Wiki, which says that Akamai Cannys (a retooling of the Canny genome) do not breed well with Nova Subterras and also do not breed all that well with norns that have the original C2 genome...although why they'd want to breed with something as stupid as an original C2 norn is anyone's guess.
I've been running a strict wolfling run with a bunch of original C2 norns...and the results, to say the least, have been a little disappointing (although not all that surprising, given how dim-witted C2 norns tend to be even when they've been hand-reared). Most of them have appeared to fall prey to the OHSS and starved themselves to death before reaching old age (in some cases, before even reaching adulthood) -- and most of them have not made an effort to interact with the laptop or the computer, or explore any areas outside the Hatchery (the few that did tended to get stuck in the boat between the desert and the island). All they tend to do is march back and forth in a big gibbering heap, tickling or hitting each other as the fancy takes them. |

Have you tried the Kannova Norns? I can't speak as to which is 'best', but you might like to try them out and see.

I'm in the same boat as you, NoxTheNorn; I still think there's something wrong with these "fixed" genomes, and it's something that irritates me to no end whenever I play Creatures 2. I'm just glad Creature Labs learned their lesson and used a different engine for the later games.
Also, is it just me, or do the animations run a lot slower in the first two games than, say, Docking Station? It's a shame nobody has decided to rebuild them both from the ground up using the Creatures Evolution Engine that I spoke of. |

I been wondering about this a lot as well, I allways been confussed at wich genom is better then the other.
There so many different ones to choose from - Canny, Akamai Canny, Nova subterras etc and wish there was one good answer to wich of them are most reccomended. I been just experimenting with most of them, but never been testing them one by one to see wich is best.
I have a very misty mind that I once found a similar topic like this one before long time ago, but I can't remember if there ever was a final answer there...
As for breeding original c2's, I think that some of the older breeds isnt based
on the better genoms (old breeds of mine included if I remember it right, hope to fix that).
I hope someone might give an answer to which of the more smart tweaked Norn C2 genoms is best to use, then just be confussed with all of them ^^'
