Installation problems on Windows 7

I recently had to replace the hard drive on my laptop, which naturally necessitated the re-installation of all my software including my Creatures games. (I was fortunate to be able to have enough advance warning of imminent failure with the old disk to be able to save nearly all my files.) However, for some unknown reason, I'm running into problems with both Docking Station and Creatures The Albian Years which I didn't have on my old hard drive.

Docking Station appeared to install correctly, but when I attempted to install the CFE egg pack for the original Cyberlife breeds, attempting to hatch anything other than a Bondi or ChiChi CFE resulted in an error message saying that the game could not create the image files. The error messages went away when I changed the gender for each breed on the Muco...but when I attempt to hatch a CFE norn that isn't a Bondi or a ChiChi, something goes wrong with the body data. The resulting norn usually has the right head, but has either a Bondi or ChiChi torso. I uninstalled Docking Station and re-installed it, even downloaded fresh copies of the CFE egg packs -- but last time I checked,, I still had the problem. The only thing I can think is that perhaps my copy of the Docking Station installation file (which had been on the old hard drive) might have become corrupted in some way when the old drive began to fail, and I'm downloading a fresh copy now to see if that will help. The only other possibility I can think of -- which doesn't make much sense to me -- is that a Windows update is interfering with the game in some way, but the fact that the problem is so specific to CFE breeds leads me to doubt that this is the case.

CTAY is giving me a different problem. Everything seemed to be fine at first...but now when I try to run Creatures 2, it asks me to stick the CD-ROM in the drive. I may try re-installing CTAY to see if this resolves the problem...but this has never happened before.

If I were you, to fix the docking station problem I'd install creatures exodus from GOG.com, both the creatures 3 install and the docking station, and then get the remastered patch, and then run all the mall breeds installs as administrator, and then replace the genomes in the documents portion of docking station with the CFE.

I only say that because I am running windows 7, and I just installed it a couple days ago exactly like that, and I am not experiencing any issues.

The bobblehead problem is because the CFE egg agents don't include the full sprites and body data of the mall breeds (to respect Gameware's copyright on them). You need to go back to the original, non-CFE egg agent, hatch one norn, and that will install all of the sprites and body data. :)

That last bit actually makes sense...I think I hatched a batch of non-CFE mall breeds when I first installed Docking Station on the original hard drive because I didn't know about the existence of the CFE norns. Thanks...maybe I can think of something to do with the non-CFE norns I hatch, such as put them in a separate world with some Gizmo varieties to see how they compare against a similar world of CFE Norns.
