How long has the community spirit festival been going on? Who came up with the idea?
Those like TreeSprite and Don may know the answers, but I am just curious. I know there has been alot of them and I really have been paying attention since last year.
Sorry I don't have anything for the spirit festival this year, I play creatures every once in awhile. Same with my posting on the community forums. The old ones and this one.
I honestly feel like a misfit at times. It seems like everyone devotes every waking moment to creatures, and Because I play other games, I feel like a misfit.
OMG! I am so off topic! Anyway, I think one year for CCSF we should have a history lesson about how this all started. I would love like a history lesson for it. Gather round kids! This is why we celebrate the Creatures Commuity Spirit Festival. These are the brilliant minds who came up with the idea for our yearly holiday here.

I'm curious about the origin of the CCSF, too. This is my first one. Have you checked the wiki? There might be more answers there, and you'd certainly be welcome to share what you learn here.
As for having other interests, it doesn't make you a misfit, it makes you a normal person with more than two interests. For example, some of us like to write, others read, some of us craft, and I think we all play other games.

I don't think it's fair to think that people dedicate so much time to this game series. I spend what I can, but I still do play other games, write, program, and a *ton* of other things outside of Creatures. It's just that... Creatures is home. <3
I hope to learn about the origin of CCSF too! |

If I recall correctly, the first CCSF was conceived by Erin and Liam, et al. and held in 2004 with a 'Christmas in July' theme. It's a shame that more Information wasn't archived. The Creatures Community Spirit Festival website only has records from 2005 and upwards.
I think it's amazing, and says a lot about our community, that we've managed to uphold this tradition for ten years now. It only just dawned on me today that this year is the tenth anniversary! |

Liam is still around from time to time, perhaps he can shed some light on it the next time he's here. |

It just... happened, didn't it? Someone proposed the idea, and everyone else jumped on it. |

Sure, but every year, there has been at least 1 coordinator. Someone had to organize the first one.

I did, but I was replying to SpaceShipRat. XD Thank you, Laura.
It would be nice of Liam if he could make the time to talk about the first CCSF. Straight out of the horse's mouth sort of thing.

Thanks for the replies. Straight from the horses mouth. I like that.
I just remember it popping up. It just reminded me of like a new holiday and how we know why we celebrate Christmas, Easter, New Years.
Well happy anniversary! Doing it for 10 years!

It was Erin's baby, as I recall. It originated on the verdant fields of Albia 2000. Sorry, I can't find the exact topic.

Oh man, I didn't realize it's been 10 years already! It's amazing how we've all been able to keep this going! :> I remember my first one was in 2008, and I got so excited and drew all this art for it. I haven't contributed as much the past few years but I'm very happy to still be a part of this community! Let's keep it coming!

As some others have noted, the wiki is always a good place to start.
There are a lot of ways that people can contribute to CCSFs, sometimes you get fairly inactive people getting themselves involved and that's part of the charm of the event. I helped to coordinate the 2009 CCSF with Starscream and look how inactive I am!
I remember in a couple of older ones we'd have people interview community members who were working on big projects and the like. Norn_master, since you are quite interested, perhaps you could try to find and interview the founders of the CCSF and then share the transcript, or write up your own article on how it originated? You've got quite a bit to go on in this thread already, and if you can't get it done for this year's CCSF then there's always next year's |

Yeah. Sounds like a plan.
I will have something to pass along I am sure for next year. I actually like searching forms for stuff. Time is a factor tho. When I have time. Lol

Edit: I found me, I found me! boy I thought I was a wit back then I wonder if anyone remembers that particular weird girl. |

Thanks for the link. So it was thought of in 2003 and was first celebrated in 2004?
