Someone in CC Chat brought this post on Tumblr to my attention. It's a re-imagination of the Bug's Temple metaroom, from what I can gather.
Doesn't it look awesome? Look at all those intricate details on that statue! Bug's Temple just got even more beautiful. I bet someone here knows who's behind this, I wish I knew. It's got me thinking too: Which other old metarooms could be rejuvenated with a new makeover?
Part of me hopes that this artist turns their paintbrush to reinventing more of the community's favourite metarooms, just so we can see what they'd look like! It could be interesting to see them in a whole new perspective. |

That's me! (yep I just made an account to reply to this~)
I used to be a part of the community years ago but over the years lost access to a working creatures game. Now I have the good old games version of creatures exodus, and I've been messing around with .blk and c16 files for the bug's temple room and some of Bug's agents.
Sadly, the original dev tools (map editor, easyPRAY, revelation, sprite builder ect) are more than a little dodgy and patches and registry key edits can only get me so far in terms of being able to make 3rd party content... But I'm trying to do the best with what I can for now c: I've made new c.16 graphics for the steam rock agent, temple torches, runestone room teleporter, bone toy agent, bug's basket food vendor, sun cozy, and the curlshoot plant! Although I'm doing what I can to change the script for the curlshoots because with the original agent script they die off in practically seconds c':
Anyway, sorry for rambling away there! TLDR if anyone ever wants to ask questions or lend me a hand go right ahead, and I may release my edits provided the original creator/s either don't mind or are too long gone to care.

Oh wow, it's awesome to actually meet the artist behind the artwork. I'm really impressed by it, and would love to see more addons get the same treatment! Bug's metarooms and agents seem great for that, in particular. I'd love to see the Tea Time Plants get revamped.
... Now look who's rambling. Thank you for registering and explaining everything to us. I hope you'll stick around? If you're still struggling with tools, or ever need help with any projects, then I'm sure the kind folks in the Development forum can lend a hand. |

The teatime plants huh? I actually downloaded them yesterday, they're really handy! I wouldn't mind playing with a revamp of those...
Right now I'm just waiting to see if I get any responses on my post in the dev forum, but hey if I get anyone willing to properly stick my art into the respective agents I'll be even more likely to make a whole ton of them<3

Oh by the way here's a fun little preview of some of the agent graphical mods! from left to right:
the Steamrock,
Sun Cozy,
Bug's picnic basket (without the food items dispensed, although they're also in game<3)
Bone toy,
Curlshoots in sprout phase (there's still problems with their life cycle code though)
Teleport stone
also the torch up top there!
(also there's a tiny glitch in that bg platform shhh I've already fixed that but it's still a little embarrassing~)

Oh, I just love all of them, especially the torch and the Streamrock. I'm such a sucker for images with so many textures and details to look at. To me it's like pure eye candy. Nice one! |

in a small update to my revamp adventures, I've actually done a lot! including hunting down bug's seed pack plants in full (curlshoot, arrowhead vine, golden cap mushroom and yedefferen fern) and working with those too!
I'm thinking for the time being with my lack of knowledge, that honestly making the complete agents for this project might just be totally beyond me. If people were interested in just having the c16 files released and the few agents where I've re-written the scripts a little to balance out plants that didn't survive well (or just do TOO well), I'd be willing to offer them up though!
Unless someone wants to do the agent-ing for me, but I'd hate to be a bother.
TLDR is a c16 replacement pack just too annoying for people?

Don't give up! You might want to try out EastPRAY? I'm terrible at making agents, but I've had some success with it in the past. There's even a tutorial for it. There's also another program called Jagent that does even more things. There's a few tutorials for it at the bottom of the link.

I actually have easy pray and jagent! I suppose I could simply fiddle around more, but I clearly just don't know what I'm doing well enough yet....
To give an example, in /theory/ from what I understand, if you decompile an agent into a folder, replace it's c16 and recompile it, it should inject the new c16 when you put it in-game, but I find that they still inject the old graphics, so I must be doing something wrong and I just haven't learned what I'm doing properly yet.

It helps if you manually delete the old c16 files first.

there's also the fun issue of if i remove my c16 I added in, I get error messages that crash my game even if I'm not using or have deleted the worlds using those c16s, so I can't even take my altered images out to check if agents actually work c':
honestly, it's all very confusing, frustrating, and seems like it would require more than one person, game, ect to figure out for the time being. Even though clearly the experienced part of the community probably sees it as no big deal.
It's honestly something I've been doing for myself for fun, and I'd love to release what I edit or make, but these aren't issues I'll be able to resolve right away by myself. :c
on a slightly lighter note though, here is a possible version of the arrowhead vine, and the finished clover (and also the original yedefferen fern choking up the shee statue)

I see I'm not the only person who fiddles with original sprites. Although most of the time it consists of patching up unintended transparent spots and sweeping away stray pixels.
I like how the original fern goes with the new background though. It looks pretty neat to me.

Gorgeous work! You're welcome to ask for help in the Development forum, by the way. I don't think many people come to the General forum looking for projects to help with.
You've already made quite a buzz with your gorgeous work, so I'm sure someone would be happy to help.

Yeah I usually don't tinker if something isn't broken either, so to speak! This metaroom and it's plants and agents (or these are at least mostly by the same artist) all have/had things going on like odd little accidental transparencies, stray white or dark pixel edges around them, or cartoony styles that I wanted to just tweak up so I could make them fit in a little better! It's basically for my own personal fun, but if I ever figure out what the gosh dang heck I'm meant to be doing with agent files, I might share them out some time.

Is there a link to use it?
Updated Bug's Temple looks like it'd work great with stuff like the Water Weed. |
