Sorry if this is a stupid question. I've been trying to use the C3 genetics kit, but whenever I try to inject an egg, it gives me this error:
Error identifying the location of Creatures on this computer
Description: Error ID 75 (Path/File access error)
I'm running a docked world, and my C3 and Docking Station were from an amazon download. |

Can you find us the link that you bought the game from? If it was branded as Creatures Exodus, you might want to try the Creatures Remastered Patch.

I got it from http://www.amazon.com/Merge-Games-Creatures-Exodus-Download/dp/B00CPS63G0
I tried the remastered patch, but it didn't work. |

It could be that the remastered patch doesn't recognise the Merge Games directory that it installs Exodus under.

What's the file path that Exodus usually installs in? Mine is either Program Files (x86)/Docking Station or Program Files (x86)/Gameware Development/Creatures Exodus/Docking Station (I installed the regular DS before getting Exodus, that may be the reason)
And, just in case moving the files doesn't work, does the GOG version usually work with the genetics kit? |

Did you uninstall Docking Station? Liam recommended taking that option as an easy way of dealing with the official kits not being able to communicate with Exodus.

*Facepalms* That worked. I'm an idiot. Thanks for the help, though. |

Okay... Now I can export eggs from the genetics kit, but they always hatch into a norn (male if the gender's unspecified) with a Harlequin body, grendel features, and a reddish tint. I don't know whether or not the genetics are changed. Any clue what's causing this? |

My recommendation: forget this entire hassle, switch to the (at first a little unusual) GeneLab and use the "Portable Egglayer & Genome Injector" from.... I think MNB made it.
The Egg Maker is an option too, but it's input field is a lot smaller, only allowing much shorter genome names. Also, the Portable Egglayer can act as a mini-muco as well, which the Egg Maker can't.
On the other hand is Creatures Mainframe down, making the PE harder to obtain than the EM...

Thanks! So far everything seems to be working fine, but I can't figure out how to use the portable egglayer to make eggs straight from .GEN files. |

You must make sure that they are in your game's genetics directory. Then click the button which opens an empty plain field. There you can type stuff. Just enter the genome name without the ending, e.g. to inject the MyFirstGenome.gen file, just enter MyFirstGenome.
Make sure you confirm with enter, that is important! After that choose the gender and hit the small yellow button to create the egg.

Alright, after a bit of floundering around and misunderstanding the need to press enter, I got it to work. Thanks! |

Yes, that enter-thingy is a problem with input fields in general, at least in C3/DS...
