Comment Deletion and Flagging Problem. | |

Hi! I am not sure where else to put this. This is directed at some things regarding this site.
1) It would be awesome to be able to delete comments that we have posted ourselves. I recently posted something, edited it, then realized I should just delete it. But I couldn't, apparently.
2) We should be able to undo flagging content. I accidentally flagged the aforementioned post, and now there's nothing I can really do about it. There seems to be no confirmation about, "do you really want to flag this?" beforehand; it just goes straight into being flagged when clicked.
It is disappointing that we can't correct our mistakes on this site, in this way. |

Thanks for letting us know about this. Ordinarily, flagging comments replaces the flag button with a '?' button asking us to confirm the flag - but it doesn't sound like you got this when you accidentally flagged your comment...

Well, that seems hardly intuitive. I tested it and it does show up. I double-click sometimes, because I have twitchy hands, so it is quite possible that I had clicked twice without realizing it.
It really should render a notice, or turn red, or something... because it doesn't at all look like it's asking for confirmation (unless you know to interpret and/or see the icon change). |

Thanks for testing it out, and the suggestions on how to make it more explicit. Ultimately it is up to Rascii as to what he can code and when, but for what it's worth, I think it's a good idea.

Deleting comments works similar. There should be a big X button in the row with the like and quoting buttons. Like the flagging, it turns into a ? upon clicking. Clicking the ? will completely get rid of it.

There is no way to delete comments at all that I have found, Papriko. |

Think he's suggesting how it could work.
It's been brought up to Rascii, by the way.

Typically members cannot delete posts on the website, but I'll take the suggestion into consideration. Currently, if a member would like a post deleted, he or she should PM a moderator and it will be taken care of shortly thereafter.
In terms of the flagging confirmation, I added the question mark as a confirmation when people complained that they accidentally flagged posts, though I can see how a question mark may not be very clear. I'll brainstorm some other options.
Thanks for the feedback.

I am pretty sure I am no mod/admin, but I can still delete my own posts. Maybe it is one of those title advantages?

I seem to recall that, since we've done away with the Staff Member user level, titled members can now post without requiring approval and delete their own posts. Don't quote me on that, though! |
