...in this spot?
So, I'm having a "longtime" wolfing.. well, more feral run and am at generation 30. I've crossed almost anything that was of interest to me in this population, CFFs, CFEs, Gizmos, standard Norns and standard Hardmans.
So there are the lazy norns now, that stay in the norn terrarium for all their lifes, the one with strong hardman genes (and an epic love for the chilli plant) that live in the jungle and some very explorative that live in the desert and then there is.. this spot. They get born there, grow up, mate and die. There are neither toys nor food. They never push the button that would take them to the DS.... they just pile up.
So why do they do this? Whats so special about this place that they got there and never return? |

No worries, Luzze! It's cheering to see a newcomer using the forums and not shying away. What was the topic in question? It'd be good to make a note of it for future reference. |

There's a fix for that problem here named "Umbilical Fix," and if I had to guess the thread Luzze found mentions the fix. You can also just change the category manually by bringing up the caos thing and typing "targ hots cato 2" while over the umbilical cord. You can also turn toys into doors with that an confuse some baby Norns.

It was this topic that was linked into my other question thread here shpuld have read it before I started this one.. and yes, the Umbilical Fix fixed it.
Turning toys into doors sounds like great fun
So, I could turn potions/medicine into food too, so my norns would actually try to eat them?
It still confuses me a bit why norns do travel to this spot. Or why they travel to the chili plant in the jungle terrarium so directly (and fast!) now.. what is it that attracts them? |

A lot of objects in C3 and DS have a smell that spreads through the ship. Norns can smell these (with their feet!) and follow the smell to its source - the 'home place' or fruit. You can read a fuller explanation (with pictures!) at Naturing:Nurturing.

Ohh, very interesting
So the Chiliplant just smells incredibly strong like fruit.. while the apples that pile up in the norn home smell just a little bit and the trumpet plant I brought into the desert doesn't smell like fruit at all.. no wonder they're being ignored all the time! |
