When I first load the kit it seems to work normally and it will load a genome like normal, but when I actually select a gene it immediately crashes.  I tried running it in compatibility mode for several operating systems and running it in 16 bit mode but it doesn't seem to work. Perhaps a 3rd party alternative is in order? The official genetics kit has proven somewhat unstable in the past anyway (such as not being able to open certain genomes when Genelab can, though the latter is a less comprehensive editor) |

How about GeneLab? You will need an ingame genome injector as well, though. I recommend the Portable Egglayer (the one which looks like a green flower). Lets play plants! Photosynthesis... Photosynthesis... Photosynthesis... |

I do use Genelab, but it lacks the ability to create Genes from scratch among some other things,such as setting gene variance, which is a pain. |
