Well, it worked moderately well for all of two days.
Now after trying to open a new world in the world switcher, I get this:

It's in 16 bit mode already. Anyone know what might have caused it to stop working all of a sudden? |

I assume you've installed the Creatures Remastered Patch and all that jazz; have you made sure that you've downloaded and correctly installed all the sprites needed for any third-party downloads you're using?
It might help to list all the third-party breeds and COBs in your world and go through to make sure that everything is installed correctly. |

Yeah, patch is done. Loads of cobs and stuff, but everything was working fine bar the odd crash until last night, didn't add anything new beforehand. The part it's finding some issue with, 'dung.s16', is it part of the default game? |

Okay, so a search has brought up a topic where OctoberFlash had the same issue: Creatures 2 on Windows 8? :C
If you're not already using the GOG.com version of 'Creatures: The Albian Years' then that might be the solution to your problem and a worthwhile investment. It's so cheap to buy these days too. |

That's the version I'm using! Thanks for trying to track down a solution for me, but crisis is now over as mysteriously as it started. I haven't restarted the computer, upgraded anything, changed anything in the slightest, and for some reason it's working again. Creatures is nuts. Oh well, I'm not gonna complain in fear of cursing it again! |
