Hatching eggs in DS

Hey :)

I am afraid I have a really stupid question, but I seem unable to find a solution... I am unable to get 2nd generation eggs to hatch in DS. I am not sure what I used to do in the past (haven't played in ages and just stumbled over my cd again some time ago) - I thought placing them on the yellow area at the left is enough, but it seems to only work with 1st generation eggs from the green egg machine thingy.

While I could use the incubator from the docked C3 it seems odd that there is no other way to get them to hatch. At first I thought it might just take longer than usual, but I have 5 eggs now and they all grew to max size and then stopped. I didn't touch them and my norns didn't touch them either.

Is there a way to get them to hatch in DS still?

Welcome the forums, Zuzuesque! How many Norns do you have in your world currently? It could be that you've reached the population limit and need to increase the limit some more. :)

Edit: Population limit? I meant to say breeding limit. :$ Can you tell that I don't play C3/DS much at all?

How many adult norns do you have in your world? It's possible that you've hit the "breeding limit". Once this limit is reached Norn eggs will stop hatching until room has been freed up.

Is it possible to raise the breeding limit in a docked world? I can never remember if you can, or whether it's exclusively a Docking Station standalone option.

It's easier in DS or a Docked world than in C3. :) You open the pink/purple question tab (the Options tab) and change the number under 'breeding limit' to something higher. The game will automatically adjust the 'population limit' to be 2 greater than the breeding limit.

As norns are one of the most resource-intensive parts of the game, don't be tempted to go '500' in the breeding limit straight off. Just try five higher than the current limit.

Yes, DS docked uses the same interface as straight DS. It's only C3 where you need to use CAOS.

ETA: Ninja'd! :)

Thanks, that was it :)

I totally forgot there was a limit. The thought never occured to me since I had just 2 Norns, but there were some ettins and grendels too.

Ettins and grendels count towards the same population limit as the norns do - I suppose because they're all putting similar stresses on the game. You might like to get the Grettin Switch agent, which will allow you to tell the ettin and grendel mothers not to lay eggs.

Just a heads-up, the Grettin Switch only shows up in the C3 Creator Machine. So if you can't find it in the DS Comms room you're not going crazy. :) Never mind I'm blind.

By clicking on the 'C3' tab to the side of the DS Agent injector, you can inject agents designed for C3 into a docked world. :)

Ups, that was a weird, just duplicated my previous post.

I will have a look at the agent, sounds exactly like an agent I need ^^

Putting that in the I Wish I Had Known That Sooner File (which is growing daily(. LOL. This will save me a lot of screen swapping, thanks. :-)
