| C2 Igua norns/Montu + max norns | |

1) I used to have Igua norns (bought Montu only for them), but sadly I have no working Creatures backups at all and thus they are lost. Thinking about getting them again, but since I now have the GOG version of C2, I don't know if the Montu installer will work. Already used the remastered patch and can install cobs and breeds just fine, but I don't remember any specifics regarding Montu installation so not sure if that's relevant.
Has anyone bought/installed Montu for GOG C2? Did everything work alright?
2) I've seen several threads about the max norn limit for GOG C2 but few with replies and I admit I am none the wiser, as I can't find the correct place to edit the registry directly as I've always done before.
A reg file with the correct path for GOG would be great (can be any value, I'll edit myself if need be), or just the path itself.
Saw this thread but can't find anything like that on the site mentioned. |

To answer the first question: Montu installs fine into GOG C2, provided you have the Remastered Patch. Granted, it's been a while since I last installed it, but I do have it installed and it works perfectly fine as far as I can tell.
Don't have a good answer to the second question, unfortunately.

Thank you Grendel Man! Happy to hear there should be no problems with Montu. |

Thank you NornenMeister! The link/site seems to be inaccessible currently though, so I'll try it again in a little while.
As for Montu, I've bought and downloaded it now but have run into some major problems and can't install it. Extracted the exe to see if that helped, but the Setup.exe inside can't be neither run nor extracted, and the .cab files are reported as possibly damaged or empty. Looks like I'll have to contact the seller for support. No Igua norns for me this weekend after all. |

I tried that, yeah. Also in various compatibility modes (XP and W98 ). Same result whatever I do. I don't get any error messages and it shows up in Windows task manager, but only under processes and not programs. It stays there w/o doing anything until I shut it down manually. Downloaded it again from the link on my receipt just in case, but that didn't make any difference. Also tried being offline with anti-virus turned off, but alas... |

Yes I have the patch, as mentioned in my OP
I get a confirmation box to change to 16 bit mode automatically when starting C2. Not sure I understand why that'd have an impact on installing Montu though? In case I failed to make it clear; it refuses to install at all so no new files have been added, so it's not the Montu world itself I'm having problems with since I haven't gotten that far. But just in case, I did try with 16 bit too, though again without success.
As for the max norns, I've finally found the path and string. Feel a bit like a fool, because it seems it was set to 40 norns all along (a GOG or patch feature?). I'd forgotten about the 2/3 rule though (for when incubator closes and importing creatures gets inactivated) which is probably why I didn't notice. Need to fiddle with it a bit to make sure it works right. |

Sorry NornenMeister, I missed to mention that in my reply. It's 18 MB, yeah. I've downloaded it 3 times now and I agree, most likely it's simply broken. I very much appreciate you taking the time to try and help, so thank you for your patience.
I've emailed customer support, so hopefully they'll get back to me. |

Figured I'd update this thread in case the solutions I've found to my problem could help someone else too.
I found out that it was the installer version causing my problem. After a bit of trial & error with different things I found this forum post and replacing the Setup.exe inside the Montu installer with the correct InstallShield version for my OS worked for me! I also had to shut down a conflicting process in task manager before it'd run. Just replacing the file or just exiting the other process wasn't enough on it's own, I had to do both (although that's not necessarily the case for everyone).
As a side note; I got polite and quick replies from Ali Maggs when emailing about my issue despite it being over the weekend, so even if I ended up sorting it out myself because I was so eager to get to my Iguas, thumbs up for great customer service! |
