I have searched but not found an answer.
I rescued two norns out of the Norn terrerium pond, and went in search of something to prevent drowning. I found the Pobble and put one in each body of water in C3.
But one of my norns wandered into the Norn pond and drowned anyway. Is there any way to prevent this? or have something that sets off a warning? The pobble didn't do it, or maybe I needed to activate it somehow?

I haven't really had a problem with my norns walking into the pond; They just never seemed to do it. If I remember correctly, there was a norn-pushy-bouncy-thingy in one of the Norngarden metarooms that might suit your needs. Sorry I can't be of more help. xP "Norn-pushy-bouncy-thingy" isn't all that descriptive...

I find that Emmental's Selective Forcefield works well as a precaution against drowning. Just place it by the edge of the pond and configure it to not let Norns pass. |

Thanks, Layla and Laura, looks like the Selective Forcefield will do the trick. Layla, if you think of the name of the object, please post it. ;-) |

I always use the Grow Control Plant (it's a source of food, too), but it installs in the Capillata meso, so it will only worked in a docked C3 world, not C3 standalone.
At a slight tangent, are the relevant norns Civets or Civet hybrids? The Civets I've had seem to be drawn to water. |

The forcefield did not work, I lost another one in the pond. Nutter, none of them are Civet related.
I would try the plant but the server seems to be down, will not open from two different web browsers.
Any other suggestions?
Meantime I put two forcefields spaced out in the water rather than one at what looked like the entrance to the water, will see if that works better.
ETA I think the forcefield is working now but sure would like to get that plant. will keep checking the website. |

The Grow Control Plant injects into C3 standalone just fine; it gets plopped in the Jungle Terrarium.
Creaturesforum.de tends to be very spotty, for some reason. If it doesn't work the first time, try removing or adding "www" from/to the URL and see if that works. If not, then all you can do is wait.
In the meantime, the Potted Stoperplant sounds like it might do the trick. It automatically kicks away any creature that touches it.
Failing that, there's a solution present in the game itself - find the medical teleporter (it's sitting at the top of the Norn Terrarium; it's a small device with a silver dome), hook it up to a Creature Detector (box-like gadget with two buttons on it) set to detect norns, and stick it in front of the pond. Any norn that gets close will get warped away to the medical bay. Not exactly the most ideal place for them to be, but it beats drowning.

I'm a bit perplexed as to why the Selective Forcefield didn't work, Barb! it seems to do the trick in my world... Did you click the ball at the top to toggle, using the red buttons, which creatures you need to prevent from passing (i.e. 1. 'Norns' and 2. 'Any life stage') and then click the base of the pole to activate the forcefield? It's active when the ball is green. |

Yes I believe i activated it correctly, but the problem seemed to be finding just the right spot for it. I tested it with a (cough) volunteer and its working now. |

One of them got around two forcefields so now I have a combination of that plus three stopperplants. |

A super extreme measure you can take is to use Magic Words Room Edits to create an invisible wall near the bottom of the hill, right before the water begins. It's certainly not ideal, but if you're looking for a last ditch effort, that should create a final fail-safe to make sure no one enters the water! It also keeps food and toys from ending up over there... I typically have all manner of items in the bottom of the pond after playing for a few hours!

I've always used the Potted Stoperplant Works like a charm for me. I always stick a couple in any place in my world I don't want Norns to go.

I thought the Grow Control Plant was on CC itself? Does clicking on the picture not start a download? |

I remember putting the grow control plant in the norn terrarium almost all the time.
If you absolutely CANNOT find it, there's a version of it in terra pluvalis but that metaroom has no remover so you'll have to have the metaroom around just to have that version of the grow control plant.
You could always drain the pond, even though it'll still look like water in the background norns wouldn't drown in it. That will kill the stickletrout though and whatever aquatic life you have in the pond. Magic words CA room edits I think can do that job, but there was this old room editor I think was made by Moe? I remember using that all the time.

The Grow Control Plant link on the downloads page brings you to the site where it can be downloaded. It's a .de domain, though, so try removing/adding www. at the beginning of the URL, or checking back another time, if it won't load.

If you ever want to prevent drowning in creatures 2 (Yes I know the question you're asking is how to prevent drowning in C3/DS) then the Nornball is very helpful. |

I was gonna suggest putting a pair of selective forcefields up, one on the ground level and one on the platform right above; but it sounds to me that that might be what you just did. If not, well, you can certainly try it. It certainly works for me once I set the field to letting nobody pass. My norns are quite fond of using that platform above the ground for high diving. ![[nlaugh] [nlaugh]](/images/smilies/emot_laugh.gif)
Magic Words Room Edits works too for an alternate solution. Just remember to block off the edge of the treehouse level as well to keep the divers out.
From the depths of Deep Lurkspace I emerge... And suddenly can't remember what it is I came up for. |

I was finally able to get the page to load to DL the grow control plant, injected it into a docked DS. Picked up the seeds, tried to plant them in the pond and other water areas, but the seeds just disappear. Is there some trick to getting the grow control plant to take? |

You need to click the grow control plant's fruit to get them to grow (presumably, this is why it's called the "grow control" plant).
If you are clicking the fruit and it's just vanishing, then I don't know what's going on.
