So I decided to start playing Docking Station for the first time in forever, and ran into the most unusual bug.
For some reason, my C3 lifts have stopped working right. Sometimes they just remain on level. Other times, they completely skip the level they're supposed to be called for. And sometimes they go up when they're supposed to go down.
I didn't change their code at all (the only edits they have is Vampess's C3 lift fix), and I haven't been messing with the code in their worlds. I have absolutely no idea what's going on.
Edit: Some more information: This is Docking Station only, as far as I can tell. My C3 standalone lifts still work the way they should. There's no error messages or anything; they just started acting weird today.
Also, reinstalling DS did not fix the issue.
Does anyone else?

Interesting...
I feel as though something similar may have happened to me and as a result left the Ark behind.
How long after the world is created does the bug happen? |

Given that constantly removing and reinjecting the .cos file didn't do anything, I think it's as soon as the world's created.

What other cos files do you have installed? |

I had a similar problem, but mine created duplicated lifts in a docked world, but thay mainly happened on the Ark side. I posted a forum post and I got a reply (I can't remember sorry) that said that I should remove the .cos file from the Creatures 3 installation, because of GOG's double installation directory.
I hope it helps!

Nutter: Off the top of my head:
*All the Magic Words .cos files (including the Room Edits)
*A modified breeding script (allows same-sex interaction, underwater egg hatching, and also allows swimming creatures to lay eggs normally)
*A modified doors.cos (just makes it so no doors are locked at startup)
*Vampess's DS lifts fix
*Modified carrot pod, justanut pod, and lemon pod script (just injects the food scripts)
I've also removed a lot of the default DS .cos files (like the bamboo and teleporters).
The thing is, most of these have been there since I first installed the game onto this computer. In fact, I haven't installed anything between now and when I last played. So I don't think any of this has anything to do with the issue.
Ghost_Norn: I probably should have mentioned that this isn't Exodus, GoG or otherwise. It's a free install of Windows DS paired with Creatures Trilogy C3. Also, the problem is that the lifts are acting odd - I'm not getting any duplicates.

You say that it doesn't happen in standalone. Could the DS lift fix be messing with the C3 lifts in some way? |

Hmm. The one problem I had with cos files was with a same-sex breeding script. That caused immediate world crash though, so it might be a red herring here.
The only problem I've seen with lifts has been with certain metarooms, and has only affected the lifts within those rooms (one I remember caused its lift to wander through the meso!) Generally they get autokilled though.
What did happen between the last time they worked right and the first time they went wrong? Does anything spring to mind? |

Tried removing the DS lifts and then reinjecting the C3 ones. Didn't work.
Another thing I found out is that it only seems to affect new worlds and/or worlds I reinjected the .cos file into. The lifts in previously made worlds still function right.
Apart from not playing the game in ages, the only major thing that's happened is that I started working on a new version of the Hydro Norn Terrarium. I didn't mess with anything involving the lifts there, though, and I injected the .cos file into both C3 and DS (as previously mentioned, C3 standalone's elevators still work perfectly fine).

This bug does not sound that familiar to me. The only thing I can think of is a possible scripting/CAOS error.
I used to have a problem with the elevators not responding when they are called. Re-installing Docking Station fixed it (I know, weird, right?). I have no idea what else I can suggest.

Another update: Replacing my original bootstrap folder with a completely unmodified one (apart from the Offline Option) and making a new world resulted in normally functioning C3 elevators.
I'm testing out the other .cos files and seeing what happens right now. I'll report back when I find something.

Hopefully you can find out what causes it. I've had the same thing happen to me in the past, and only reinstalling fixed it.

So, after testing out almost every single change I made to the Bootstrap folder...it turns out none of my changes were responsible for screwing up the lifts. Granted, the game did run into one of those crashes that required a reinstall to fix partway into the testing process, but I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
There were a few things I didn't reinstall - the C1toDS world switcher, and Vampess's hand teaching update. I didn't get much use out of either of those, so I don't think I'm going to try testing them out again.
In any event, I think I fixed it for now. Hopefully it doesn't pop up again.
