My game has become corrupted because it can't find a particular file. I've tried removing all the files related to the file but that hasn't worked. I have also tried re-installing the game. It is still corrupt just because of a faulty agent that I have already removed.
What's happened?

Perhaps you could give a little more info what is wrong? Which game complains? And usually games say which file is missing. Which is it?

Creatures 3 is the game that's been playing up recently. It says something about "xeno.s16" missing, which is the sprite needed for the Xenophobic Goo agent.
Also, what I don't understand is that I used to have the agent and I removed it (along with the sprites and everything else). So why is Creatures 3 still looking for the sprites that go with that agent?

It might be that the agent is still in the world you try to load. Removing the .agents file just removes the installer for the agent... Each world has an own list of scripts and objects (the Scriptorium) where it keeps a copy of all needed scripts.
It might be that even though you deleted the agent file, there is still one of those goo things in the scriptorium and now desperately looks for it's sprite file.

Sounds like Papriko has the right idea! I know that when I was updating and posting downloads here, I would remove most of the agents from my game folders each time. There were one or two instances when I forgot to remove the agents from a world before quitting, and then the world couldn't load without the files in the proper folders.
Have you tried creating a new world? You shouldn't have any problem starting it up, but if you do, might be best to post the exact error message so the technical experts can shed some light!

I've tried creating a new world but that hasn't helped.

You might try copying an existing sprite file from something else, and rename the copy "xeno.c16". If a game is really bent on finding a certain file, providing it with a "stand-in" can sometimes fix the error.

I've managed to fix the problem! It turns out it was just a script error. Thanks for all your help!
