I had so many issues at once, I exported one hatchling until I could deal with it. He was crawling around ok, I exported him at maybe a couple minutes old. Now I imported him and he is deceased. Poor baby, never got to know him. But he was alive when I exported him.
What can I do to figure out what happened? Is it risky to export a newborn?
I have so many questions, I should maybe just make a thread called Barb's noob questions, lol. And I thought Sims had a steep learning curve. |

This is C1 right? If he was healthy as a newborn then it might have been import shock that killed him? I don't know for sure though, I've never had something like that happen to me. O.o

Yes it is C1, sorry forgot to mention that.
I read your link to Import Shock. I did have a bad crash around the time he was hatched, a COB crashed the game twice.
I had not come across this yet in my readings. I wil make a note to back up my exp files regularly. |

Not sure about the info on the Wiki - the impression I've had is that it isn't genetics-related, it's definitely a game thing, like a mishandled error. It often seems to occur if the norn is in some kind of "unstable state" when exported, so when it's re-imported, it's like it's halfway through something and the game can't process it, so kills the creature.
Try to export a norn in the most "neutral" state possible - so don't export it when it's asleep, is in the process of eating, or is interacting with objects. SIDS will still happen sometimes anyway, and I usually take a backup of exports just in case. |
