hi all im a new user of the forum but an old time creatures fan
i have some questions for u, i never understood the game completely, my problems are:
In Creatures 3 Is talking to the norn still so important as in creatures 2?
How can i start breeding or cross breeding species in Creatures 3?
Could u help me with the very beginning of creatures 3?
I mean, my Norns roam on the map, and pick up the power up for the spaceship, i built an anti grendel cannon for defence but.... what now? how can i force norns to go on teleports or in others rooms of the map?
I Really appreciate a little help. Thanks you |

Talking to your norns is still important in Creatures 3. ![[ngrin] [ngrin]](/images/smilies/emot_grin.gif)
To make a lot of the machines work in Creatures 3, you need 'bioenergy', created by recycling living things in the recycler. (This is at the bottom of the norn terrarium).

In Creatures 3, the creatures are actually much better at taking care of themselves than in Creatures 2 and don't have to learn language to survive. You have the option to teach them handish and it'll help you communicate with them better and will help you take better care of them.
Once you've gotten started, it helps to collect all of the pick ups in the game. One of the most useful ones is the pickup under water in the aquarium. You can use the lift there to help a norn reach that power up and tell them to "push tool". After that particular power up is activated you can hold shift and right click on a norn to pick it up and move it around.

He has to learn the words from the learning room before you can use them. The learning room is next to the egg laying machine. You have to lure your creature into that room to teach them language, just like in Creatures 2 you had to use the computer to teach them. Once they learn some basic commands like look and push they can start listening to your instructions.
You can also right-click on your creature to hold their hand and lead them around. You should find this very useful.

It's pretty much up to you once you've gotten started. You can try to raise grendels or ettins instead if you like or you can try to breed a race of warrior norns. A good first thing to try is to raise two norns at once and try to get them to breed. Once you've done that, you know pretty much everything you need to do the basics.
You can also check out the downloads section of the website to get agents that you can use. If you don't have Docking Station (it's free) you have to make sure you're using C3-only compatible downloads.

If you click the question mark near your hand at the top left of your screen, then click on an object, it will say its name, the norn can learn the word a bit, and your norn's attention will be drawn to the object.

Docking Station's servers are actually down right now so the only way to get past the login screen is with a fix that will allow you to get past that.
This page has an offline patch that you can use. Scroll down to the bottom and follow the instructions included in the readme.

You've already asked that. You're free to share your progress learning the game in a blog if you like as well.

No, there are no updates I'm afraid. There are lots of downloads in the downloads section that you can use to add to the game if you like, though. There are also fan-made fixes and updates that you might find useful. Here is another article you might find useful.
Wolfling runs are a popular option. Basically, you hatch a bunch of creatures and watch what they do. It's up to you whether you want to teach them basic skills first or if you want them to let them figure it all out on their own. It's also up to you whether you want to help them a little bit on the way or not.
Other members have written about ways to make the game interesting, too. One idea is that you could try to breed creatures with interesting mutations or write stories about the creatures that you raise and share those stories in the Writing forum.
Finally, you can use the medical bay to perform medical experiments on your norns. To get to the medical bay in the game, go into the hallway and scroll all the way to the left. Go down a little and you'll see all sorts of gizmos and a tank you can use to study creatures and their biochemistry.
Speaking of gadgets you can even play with those! You can use the input and output ports to link them together. If you push F1 and click on anything a helpful hint will pop up telling you what that thing is and what it does.

in docking station and creatures 3 i cant understand how to teach commands to norns, in creature 2 it was more simple, u need just to let them watch u and wait for them repeating the command, but in docking station my creatures never listen to me or learn commands they didnt answer when i try to type something in the game |

Try using the computer in the learning room, or one of the Stones of Knowledge (which instantly teaches all vocab). There is also an agent in the Portal Agent Pack by Ghosthande that has an automatic learning feature. And finally, the Holistic Learning Machine in the Norn Meso is another option!
I've found that C3/DS Creatures aren't very fun to teach like the Norns in C1/C2. That's just my opinion, but it's part of the reason why I find it so difficult to get attached to anyone in C3/DS.
Hope this helps you out!
