Hi everyone, I have one small question. I have accidentally let a non-CFE and a CFE norn to breed, and the resulting baby seems normal so far, but can he get any king of problems, like not able to move or think properly?

Normally if there are any major problems with a CFE and non-CFE cross, they show up at birth. There is still the chance that he could have some issues, but they shouldn't be as serious as slider syndrome. I would recommend keeping him from breeding, though: His genes likely wouldn't mix as well with pure CFE or pure non-CFE.

I've been merrily mixing CFE and non-CFE on my wolfling run. Not a single slider so far, but I do get sudden deaths (usually soon after hatching) and the occasional norn who appears to be blind or autistic. I haven't yet gone through them to see if CFE crosses are more commonly affected, but that might be interesting. One way to check for CFE genes is to see if norns say they love or dislike the hand or another norn - standard norns don't seem to do this. |

Usually the worst thing that happens is that a Norn behaves like a non-CFE.
There are exceptions which suffer from more severe things, but that is less common.

Thanks everybody. Wow, I didn't know that norns could be blind or autistic. How do they behave when they are like that?

Blind norns are like normal norns - they talk, move around, respond to the hand, reply to other norns - but they don't eat or play. You can put food next to them and they won't eat it - it's like they can't see it.
Autistic norns either sit there and don't do anything (but walk if pulled by the hand i.e. not sliders) and either don't talk, or will say need but not doing anything about it, or come out with bizarre needs - "push vehicle" with no vehicle present, for example. Sometimes autistic norns will move around, but generally they don't really interact with anyone or thing. |

Oohh, I see. Hmm, I think I had an autistic norn a while ago, since he behave like you described. Thanks Nutter
