| Sleep Glitch Or Import Shock? | |

Hello again! I've got a problem with my baby norn Shadyk. I just imported him and he's lying still, like he's dead. Yet the observation kit shows him as healthy. What's going on? FYI, this is C1. |

Is he in the death position, with his eyes closed and one arm slumped forward? Or is he just lying still? I believe there was some research done, and importing a Norn sometimes seems to fire a lot of genes. This is how you sometimes end up with dead Norns upon importation.
Have you tried tickling or slapping him to see if there is any reaction?

He's in the typical sleep position with his eyes closed but there's no z coming from his head, nor a snoring sound. He won't respond to a tickle, I haven't tried a slap though, mainly because the thought of a dead baby creeps me out a lot.
EDIT: The second I imported him he was in this position and he wasn't like this when I exported him. |

Did you save a copy of his file? You might try importing him again to see if the same thing happens. This is why I always recommend backing up C1 export files: Things tend to go wonky from time to time!
It sounds like he died on import: Have you made sure the Observation Kit is updating? Sometimes I pause the game and notice the kit needs to be closed and re-opened in order to get it moving again.

It was a case of observation kit not updating.*sniff* RIP Shadyk, you'll be remembered and I'll have Vixy's new egg dedicated to you.... |

Can you clone him with the genetics kit? |

At least it was peaceful...

I don't have the genetics kit and even if I did, having a clone just wouldn't feel right... |

Ok weird, his body won't disappear now... |

Are you sure he's dead and not "dead"? |

What do you mean by that? |

There's a set of mutations which create zombi norns, essentially, by allowing them to survive with no glycogen or aging in there systems because they're missing the death gene. If I remember correctly, the game never fires the death script because the norns death gene was never triggered. I think zombies show up in the life kit as "dead".
Can you still select him? |

That sounds more like something from C3/DS, Feddlefew. The only death gene I know of in C1 is the "die of old age" gene, which isn't present in the original Norns. This just means that they'll live until they starve to death, or until they die of an illness.
There is a gene for having almost no glycogen in the system, but not having that gene should allow a Norn to theoretically have 0% life force but still be alive. I imagine there would be a grave icon, though.
Since this happened right on import, I don't think it's a genetic zombie ordeal going on, but I could be wrong! Having never had a C1 zombie Norn myself, I suppose there's something new to find out about!

The gentics tutorial I found that mentioned them was for C1, but it's been awhile to be honest. |

He's still on the ob kit and I can still select him.... |
