Creatures Add-ons available?

I know it's probably unlikely and that's ok, but I never got a chance to buy the mall breeds (Bondi, Hardman, Toxic, Treehugger) when they were available, so wondered if there was any way of getting them now. I'm also interested in the development tools and the science tools but can't seem to find them either.

The general rule still is that Gameware have said the sharing of the Mall-only packs (i.e. Treehuggers, Bondis, Hardmans, Toxics, etc.) may be discussed in private, via PM or e-mail, but not publicly on any forum, nor may they be posted online in any form.

I really don't think Gameware would actually care if they were publicly shared at this point, though! It's not like they're going to start selling them again. The most that could be hoped for is that GOG would start including them in their version of Exodus, but that doesn't seem very likely after all this time.

Unfortunately, we haven't received a clear response from Gameware yet. Some of us think that the collector's edition of Creatures Online might include the breed packs, which would then finally make them available again. Nothing has been confirmed, although I've been pestering my contacts at Fishing Cactus for a long time trying to get some information about this!

I know their policy is from years and years ago, but we still respect this... Even if it does seem outdated! Hopefully we'll have an answer to this soon enough. I think there was a petition on GOG.com to get the breed packs, but so far (after several years) no luck.

From a profit point of view, if you have a product you know you have a market for, it makes no sense not to sell it unless you think you can leverage it elsewhere; that would suggest Gameware will release it with something to do with CO, because that way they'll get sales from people who want C3 add-ons but might not be interested in anything CO-related.

Unless, of course, the cost of keeping a web store open would be greater than the profit of what you sell. Which is most likely what the case is for the breed packs. I can't imagine there's a very large market for them - a couple of hundred people isn't enough.

But it would be nice if they were included with Fishing Cactus' collector's edition.

I dunno; they're maintaining their own servers anyway, and if there isn't a lot of call for the product, then there won't be a lot of Web traffic; as I understand it, costs for things like debit card processing are per organisation, rather than per product. If they have no online store at all though, we may see the breed packs up for sale again when CO comes out; they may rather wait than lose fees to people like PayPal.

Yeah, if they're really doing a "complete collection" it'd be very nice if it actually was complete!

I bought all of the breed packs way back when, even all of the ones that have become free now, but I feel sad for those who really want the Hardmans and whatnot and just have no way to get them. :/

Well, you can get the breeds - there are enough norns about - you just won't have the sprites.
