Creatures Village Music

With the Creatures games on sale at GOG.com and Creatures Village getting a little more attention, I wanted to ask a question that may have been asked in the past. C-Rex posted some information in this topic about how to get the music to play. Unfortunately, it's not working for me. I've never been able to enjoy the background music, and I'm wondering if it's something that players might not even be aware of. There was a brief topic at GOG.com, but the information was never shared.

Does anyone know how to enable the music in Creatures Village? The game is still fun without the music, but I feel like having it would make the experience much better.

I'm running Windows 7, but any solutions are welcome! I would also be interested to know if anyone who has the GOG.com version is able to hear the background music. Thanks!

I forgot to mention Jessica, after you've followed the guide and just as Creatures Village is loading, try pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE to minimize the game, and then maximize it again. This hopefully should work, but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm on Windows 7 also, and having no luck with CV music, but I can't seem to try this fix because CTRL+ALT+DELETE doesn't minimize the game. I used a few different keyboard shortcuts, but nothing I tried seemed to work. When you say loading, do you mean the game itself or a specific world?

Oh, wow! I didn't even know CV had music... then again, I also haven't played it in years .//.

Whoa. Okay, Ctrl+Alt+Delete and setting it in compatibility for 95 got the music working just fine!

What system? [nsurprised]

Edit: Attempted that, got this error.

It worked on windows 7, but you have to be quick about the minimization.

I need to know -- is the music anything like in the trailer?

Yes it is, mfb. The music in the trailer plays in a bonus area in the game.

Sorry to necrobump guys, but I managed to get my music working.
Basically what I did was (Win 7)

I set it in 98 compatibility mode

I started it up, when I was on the black screen with my loading cursor, I did ctrl + alt + delete and waited a while, then I clicked on "Start task manager"

When I tabbed back into my CV, it was playing the airgame song and was at the world menu.

I can confirm, this does indeed solve the problem for Windows 7!

If you somehow get your CV into windowed mode like I did, (accidentally) it helps.

Sometimes this takes multiple attempts.

Came across this topic and tried this on my sis win7 laptop, still dosn't work.
I dont have G.O.G but its the triple pack, so its close enough.
Wish my old winME could start up and behave, that way,I would be able to play my original CD's of both Creatures Adventure & Playground with music.

Is there realy no way to solve this with CAOS or make a patch somehow?

I'm pretty certain it works as long as you're in windowed mode, so it's very likely that there is a way to create a cosfile that always puts your world into windowed mode.

I can imagine it actually is a thing with CAOS or the MNG files. CV is pretty dang close to C3. We are able to edit both. Someone just needed to bring up the nerves to go through these things.
Maybe it is somewhere in a CV equivalent of the !game_variable.cos?
