Hi guys,
I don't know when the problem started, but basically now whenever I try to create a docked world on DS it fails to load, and I get a box come up saying:
"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."
(I would have posted a screenshot but didn't know how).
Anyway, has anyone had this problem before? Anyone know a solution? I deleted a bunch of agents and breeds thinking it might be overloaded but it still didn't work. Weirdly enough though, I can still access my docked world that is already created, and I can still create undocked worlds.
Any help would be really appreciated! |

Do you have the latest patch for Creatures 3 / Docking Station? Also, what operating system are you using? And, are you using a Creatures 3 disc or Creatures Exodus?
Other than that, I have no idea, I haven't seen that error before.
Creatures tends to run incorrectly on newer versions of Windows, and having Exodus or a disc seems to make a difference in terms of compatibility. (Exodus from GOG.com appears to work better)
If none of these appears to be the problem to you, might I suggest replacing some of your files? On my topic here I am having a similar problem, and ylukyun down at the bottom suggested replacing .cfg files and my .exe file. This might work but I haven't had the time to do it yet.

Right, I've reinstalled the whole thing and gradually added all the agents to try to see what set it off, but it seems everything's running smoothly again. Bit of a mystery really. I'm using Creatures Exodus so didn't expect something like that to happen, but I guess there's always gonna be issues with these old games. Thankyou for the tips, I will certainly look into replacing files if it ever happens again, but fingers crossed it was just a fluke! |

It might also have been caused by an errant COS file. I know I had issues with putting one in the wrong location, and I believe I also ended up using a corrupted file at some point. Glad to hear it's all working again! Definitely a good idea to slowly install agents/files so that if something does go wrong, you know how to backtrack. Saves you some time... As I've learned after having to reinstall three times! Good luck with everything!

I'm having the same problem. All my .cos files seem to be in place, all the agents/breeds/cosfiles are things that worked fine on my old install, the Creatures Remastered Patch is installed (including the my documents fix) and it's installed to My Documents/Creatures because catalogues and saves were going to the wrong place if I put it anywhere else.
Basically, the only difference is that I was on Trilogy + some old download version of DS, and now I'm on GOG.com Exodus.
Update: Oh, and I'm on Vista (I know, I know, but it's what the laptop came with and I got used to it) if that's relevant.
After coming across this thread, I checked to see if machine.cfg was pointing to the right folder as described there. It is, so I don't know what else to do.
Another thread recommended "replacing the .exes", but where do I get the replacements, exactly? It's probably something obvious and I'm just being slow... |

@InsanityPrelude: My guess is that you would get the .exe's by copying all your Docking Station folders, then uninstalling Docking Station. Re-install Docking Station. Move back all your folders and files, but do not replace the .exe, .cfg, .whatever-else files. That's what I'd do, anyway...
Also, for future referecne, if you are using a C3 disc (maybe Exodus too, I don't know since I don't have it) make sure you get the C3 Patch #2. It fixes some things with docked worlds, I think. Is the Creatures Remastered Patch the one I just said? I've never fully understood which was which. I keep forgetting to look it up. <.<

I'm using GOG Exodus (no disc), which according to patch.catalogue is already patched up to #2. I guess I can try reinstalling again, though... |

Update: I fixed the crash in my game. Vampess's updated breeding cosfiles seem to have been the culprit- if both are in place, even though they're in the proper folders, the game crashes on making a docked world. If I use only the DS creatureBreeding, it works fine. |

Good to hear you figured it out! I remember someone else having this same issue in the past (myself as well). I hope you enjoy the game!
