Hey all,
I'm a long time Creatures 1 player, but I just recently downloaded Creatures 3 (after years of not playing Creatures at all!)
Last night, something very strange happened. I have used the splicer numerous times with no problems, but when I tried to splice two of my norns, one of the pods all of a sudden shriveled up and disintegrated. Is this normal? Does this have something to do with the energy level on the ship or something? The Gene Splicer's level was at 100 percent, so I am having trouble understanding exactly what went wrong...
Also: a side question: I've noticed that if I've put a norn in one of those splicer pods, and then released them, they refuse to take my hand afterwards. What's that about? Guess I traumatized them, eh? Is there any way to fix that?
Thanks.

Could you post a screenshot of what's going on?

Did you try to splice an adult Grendel? Usually that happens when a creature is too big for the pod. You can reinject the pod, but the method depends on what version of Creatures 3 you have. Is it Exodus? |

Oof. I can't say I've ever heard of this error. The Gene Splicer's level just refers to how efficient the splicer is, not to how much energy is available for it to use. Try recycling some unused gadgets and see if that helps. Bio pellets are a great agent to use if you need more energy and don't feel like waiting.
As for the creature, what kind is it? If it's a Grendel or Ettin, you might need to find the power up that allows you to pick up Grendels and Ettins and get one of your norns to push it.
Otherwise, I can't offer you much insight. C3 standalone won't even work on this laptop. :C

Darbydoo: I'll try. I'm a relative technology noob--I've only taken a screenshot with my BF's MAC, never with my computer...but I'll "give it a shot"
yluklun: Here's the thing: I downloaded a norn that was previously spliced (half-norn/half-Grendel) and captured him in the pod, no problem.
Then I coaxed one of my plain ol' norns (generation 2) into the other pod, and the pod spit her out and promptly disintegrated. It folded up like a venus fly trap, made an odd noise, and disappeared.
I think I have the Exodus version (that is what I downloaded online). Of course, the Docking station doesn't work, so I'm not sure exactly if I am just using Creatures 3 (is Exodus merely C3 packaged with Docking station? Or is the Exodus C3 different from the original C3?)
Kezune: To my knowledge, all of my power ups have been activated. I'll try recycling unused gadgets though

Here's a link to a screenshot I've just uploaded:

You can see that the second pod is simply not there. |

How odd! There's a way to reinject it in Exodus, right?

Yeah, I guess so? I haven't figured it out yet (actually just heard of this now!), so I'll look into it.
Odd indeed. |

Open up the command line by pressing SHIFT+CTRL+C (all at once) and type:
Your gene pods should be replaced. Make sure to take any creatures out before doing this.
The hand holding problem can be resolved in a similar way. Select the creature and open the command line again. This time, type:
targ norn zomb 0 attr 198

Hope that helps! |

The pod got autokilled. That's C3/DS's safety mechanism for keeping the game from crashing. Instead of letting the game crash, it will autokill/delete the agent that caused the problem. Hard to say why this happened, though - sometimes games are just buggy. |
