So I've been trying to play C2 for a while, and it all seems to work fine (albeit with an absence of that little health bar at the bottom), but after a while, my worlds stop functioning. I don't even get an error or anything, it just says that "Small Furry Creatures MFC Application has stopped working".
This is what happens. Every time I try to open the world, and it happens to each world I create, usually after half an hour of play. I don't seem to have any issues with any other game, just C2.

Have you tried running the game as administrator? I know it's not the same, but that can help me prevent crashes whenever I play an older game, like The Sims 1. Also, have you made sure that you have the Creatures Remastered Patch installed if you're using any third party downloads?
Saying that, Creatures 2 has always been notoriously buggy. I think your best bet is to just make lots of backups, by copying World.sfc, (with different filenames so you can distinguish between each one. I find labelling them by the time is helpful!) so you can at least have some of your progress saved after a crash. I'm not sure there's much else you can do. I've actually stopped playing C2 because it regularly crashes on me as well.
As for the missing status bar, go to 'View' on the top menu and select 'Status Bar' to make it appear; it's an optional feature that's turned off by default when you boot up the game for the first time. |

yeah i have the same problem for my C2 and it was Albian years from GOG.
i'll be interested to see if anyone has the answer to this since i do really love c2
as far as i can see, c1 works perfectly fine its just c2
i either get the small furry creatures has stopped working or a world error and then it automatically closes |

Okay, I'm attempting to run one of the crashed worlds as an administrator. So far, it's working, but I'm going to need to run it longer to be sure. I'll post any other technical findings, since it seems I'm not the only one having issues!

I'm glad it's working! I still really recommend making those backups too, just in case the game crashes again. Good luck! |
