| Gene header - can this cause a crash? | |

One for the C1 genetics wizards - I might have outsmarted myself on this one. I've been looking at original C1 grendels, their TN counterparts, and comparing them both to norns, to try to work out why grendels have such problems with boredom and NFP - they seem to suffer these far more than norns. C1 grendels appear to be normal norns with fertility genes removed, and a different gene header, so the game knows they're a different species. As part of the investigation, I wondered if the problem was that the game itself used the header to affect grendels directly, so I made a norn from grendel genetics, by the expedient of hex editing the gene header.
It was interesting - the norn looks like a norn, sounds like a norn, but exhibits the same problems with boredom and NFP that grendels do (which suggests it isn't the game and I've missed something in the genome...?) But now the world won't save; it crashes then goes back to the last autosave. I was thinking about putting the gengineered norn up for adoption if anyone's interested, but not if it's going to crash anyone's world. I can reset the world and re-import the creature to test, but wondered if anyone's come across this before? |

Having two creatures with the same monker has always crashes the C1 game during autosave for me. Did you check to make certain you didn't clone someone by accident? |

That's a point - one of the grendels I had in the world was used as a parent in the genetics kit to produce a clone, but I didn't think they were both in the world at the same time - unless that was the file I used to get the grendel/norn! Will check. |

It shouldn't crash the game unless it's a higher value than 03 (Shee). |
