I can't seem to figure out what all this gobbledegook is for breed spriting. I haven't the faintest clue what .atts are, or how to work Sprite Builder, and I still have to figure out how to make these knees go backwards on top of it!
Any advice on the matter would be really, really great. ![[nblush] [nblush]](/images/smilies/emot_blush.gif)

ATTs are attachment files. There's an article here that Ghosthande wrote that explains how they work. Basically, the tell the creatures body parts how to connect to each other.
This article on the CDN has a good basic rundown on the bits that go into a norn's appearance.
SpriteBuilder really isn't too complicated. Once you have it installed, I suggest going into your game folder and opening (but not editing!) a few of the image files. This will help you start to understand just what's going on.
Spriting is definitely complicated stuff. I would suggest not doing anything that involves ATTs until you have a little experience with the other parts of it.

I thought sprites and body data were way too complicated to get into, but with a little practice, you'll understand what's going on! Generalflame's link should provide a good deal of information. I imagine to get the knees to go backwards, you'll need a combination of different sprites and updated body data files. I'm having my own woes with my C1 project, though! Ha ha!
I know they're geared toward C1, but I've found that Norn Holiday's Tutorials have a good bit of beginner information. I still use these a lot to make sure I'm doing the right thing! Sometimes it helps to understand the more simplified C1 system, since C3/DS builds on many of these concepts.

If you make a breed that's a recolor, or very similar in body shape to the one you based it off, I think you can pretty much just copy the original ATTs. Always include some ATTs though or they'll use the previous breed's ones and end up disjointed. |
