C1 Macro Script Exception

I decided to start setting up my new world in Creatures 1 for the next generation. Luckily, I decided to test everything first, because I'm planning on using a lot of COBs this time around. I just encountered the following pop-up error: Clicking OK or closing it out just causes the error message to come up again. Here is what it says:

Creatures encountered an exception during execution of a macro script, most probably not due to a syntax error.
Offending portion of the macro: iy[][]
Token:

Note that the "iy[][]" really shows up as an "i" and a "y" with accents, followed by two rectangular boxes. I know my installation is fine: Just played the other day without any issues. Here is a list of COBs I injected. Those with an asterisk are new and have never been used before. The others have been utilized in worlds that have run for months without any problems.

- 24 Incubator
- 24 Push
- Bees and Hives Upgrade
- Grendel Friendly
- Multiple Grendel Button
- Refrigerator 1*
- Bliumea* (By Jessi)
- Happy Pink Flower* (By Jessi)
- Radishes* (By Mioonktoo)
- Mugug Fruit* (By Jessi)
- Radish Basket* (By Mioonktoo)
- Rodirea* (By Jessi)
- Mama Mushu* (By Jessi)
- Muggy* (By Jessi)

Jessi's COBs can all be found Here. I'm thinking this is probably from either the Mama Mushu or Muggy: Both seem rather complicated critters who can reproduce or dig up food items. My test Grendel had made heavy use of the Muggy's ability to gather food a few minutes prior to the error popping up. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the error coincided with an autosave.

I also just remembered that I removed The Cow, the Winter Mushu, and the Nannybug through the Injector Kit kind of close to the time of this error. Might one of those removal scripts be the cause of this problem?

Any help is most appreciated! I'll probably just stick with my tried and true COBs, but it would be great to at least rule out some of the above. If you've used any of the ones with asterisks without any problems, it would greatly help me! Thanks!

Refrigerator1 is solid; never had any problem with that. Haven't tried any of the others, but the two radish cobs are a basic food and a basic vendor; they shouldn't cause problems, though I can install them and test. But my bet is it's something to do with one of the complex cobs.

I've always used the Refrigerator that made the carrots regenerate in the garden: Figured I would give this one a whirl! I'm pretty sure you're right, though. As cute as the Mama Mushu and Muggy are, I'm afraid I might cut them out. I can't imagine that the plants from Jessi would cause issues, though, and the radishes look pretty safe to me!

I had four Muggies in the world, along with a baby Mushu, which were all moving around. They're supposed to turn around when they hit a wall, but perhaps something went wrong. Guess I know how to break my game if I want to, though! Ha ha!

EDIT: I created a new world and injected all of the above COBs except for the Mama Mushu and Muggy. Also added in a few other COBs, like duplicates of the toys and herbs. No problems thus far! Seems like the issue was likely caused by one or both of those critter COBs. They were so awesome to have in the world, but I guess it's just not meant to be! If anyone ever figures out the root cause, perhaps a fix could make those COBs workable again? Or I might be all wrong, and the problem just lies with something silly I did!

I'll see if I can take a look at Mama and Muggy. I havent really noticed any issues with them before but maybe a closer look is warranted. I tend to find weird errors that can be missed when I go over third party objects. I'll let you know what I can find!

Thanks, GirlySatan! I had Muggies spread out around Albia, so perhaps the error occurred when they were trying to dig up food? I know one was being interacted with on the top floor near the Grendel, where there is a rope bridge and the cable car. I would love to be able to confirm if it was one of these COBs, and even better if there is a solution to the macro error!

EDIT: Running a test world with a few Muggies running about, and all seems well! Only difference this time around is that I have Mama Mushu, but no babies around. I also only have two Muggies, as compared to four. Perhaps it was a random issue? I used .cob remover scripts (rather than the .rcb ones) for the first time, too. Going to give them all another chance, and hopefully then I'll be able to use at least the Muggies in my next C1 world!

Thanks for the message Jessica! I'm very sorry to hear about the issues with your game world. The error you are talking about is most likely from Muggy. When I was designing him, I had some issues with his walking script. Sometimes when he bumped into a wall and tried to turn around, the script would not execute correctly. This seemed to happen when he was in a small area (the incubator, for example) and hit a wall several times in succession, or was being clicked on excessively while turning.

I had thought I resolved the issue, but it is entirely possible that there are still problems. I will take a look at him soon, and will see what I can do. (I think I might just make him simpler with less complex actions). For now it may be safer not to include him in your world, as I think it is the most likely cause of your problem.

Also I am very sorry to the Creatures Community for being away for so long. I ended up being VERY busy (going to school and taking several jobs at once) and was unable to work on my COBs or enjoy Creatures for quite some time. On the plus side, I took a couple programming courses since then so I can probably do a better job with the script this time.

No problem, Jessi! Like I said in my e-mail, I like testing things out to avoid the heartbreak of losing a world populated with Norns and Grendels. I love your COBs, though, and hope you can find the cause of this issue!

Hope this means you'll find some time to enjoy Creatures again soon!
