Without using the HLM and the Learning Computer, also without F1 clicking the agents names....
I just hatched a new-born, while she is looking at my hand, I kept repeating Hand
and repeated i did...
but she doesn't give a response
any ideas? |

Sure that your hand is called hand? When you give it another name, such as Fred or God, then norns will only recognize it with that word.
Also, short words sometimes don't create responses at first. Just keep trying and it should work after a while.
Lets play plants! Photosynthesis... Photosynthesis... Photosynthesis... |

Yeap, it's called hand..
When the green arrow which indicates she is looking at my hand, i said hand
But there is zero response even with repeated tries...
Are they able to learn this way?

There is but you need to download the hand teaching module (and the magic words core.) |

so... basically it means I can't teach them words other than those programmed in the game?
Hmm.. maybe I've overestimated their abilities...
I was thinking maybe with time I can teach them 'Eat' means what when they were EATING food. lol
Is this correct? |

I don't think so... pretty sure eat is just a command to eat whatever they're looking at. And yes, you can only teach them words programmed into the game. |

hmm... then may I ask, is there any "custom developed AI" for this game?
Such as, for example they developed norns with radically different brains? |

Radically? Not as far as I'm aware. I don't think anyone has ever successfully "replaced" the Norn brain. The closest thing is Creatures Full of Edits, and even that's just a little bit of tweaking. Vocabulary is pretty hard coded as well, so even if you were to build a brain from scratch, there would still be limits on the Norns' language imposed by the engine. |

Understood. =)...
Eitherway, I'm going to enjoy this Gem of a Game. =)
Thanks. |

You can actually teach words other than the normal words. One option is to change the relevant .catalog file. This is similar to receiving a norn from someone that speaks a different language. There is also some CAOS that lets you teach any word you choose as being the term for a specific thing.
Example:
targ norn ordr shou "perfect noun 12 foobar"
That should teach the currently selected norn that buttons are called foobar. I haven't tried it myself yet.

Having some trouble getting that to work, actually.
